I asked my friend, Jewish Educator (including Chai School!), and Certified Yoga Teacher Kimmy Duenas to help teach us some breathing exercises and movements we can use to de-stress right now! Ten minutes a day can lead you to your happy place! #mindfulnessmondays #deepbreaths #tools #NeedaBreakTakeABreak

I hope that these tools and others are of use to you right now. We want to take care of each other but we also need to make sure we take care of ourselves.

Shalom CKA

Itching for something to do while being Safe at Home? Thanks to Chef Danny you can make your very own Shabbat Challah! Shabbat Shalom!

Welcome to CKA TV! This amazing new initiative will bring CKA's Judaic Study/Values cooking workshops to the comfort of YOUR own home. We are super proud to be entering this phase of bringing our amazing curricula to students worldwide!

With the social justice concept of Tikkun Olam as the backbone of these workshops, CKA utilizes this experiential teaching technique to create an environment of fun, approachable and thoughtful learning to make Judaism relatable, personal and delicious!

CKA invites ALL of our students - youth and adults alike, to join us in this fun and yummy workshop!

Today on CKA In Your Kitchen, we're making a fantastic challah recipe and doing some meaningful learning about Shabbat and the important gift it represents to the Jewish people. Wherever you are and however you celebrate Shabbat, please take some time to reflect on the power it has to renew us spiritually, psychologically and physically!

*We ask that all our younger viewers watch and cook with an adult present. The kitchen can be a dangerous place and adult supervision is required for some of the cooking techniques covered in these workshops. Thanks and happy cooking from Team CKA!*

Also please contact us at [email protected] for the recipes and to sign up for our monthly CKA TV digital newsletter!

See the equipment and ingredients for today's recipe in the comments below so you can cook along with us.

Shabbat Shalom!

Yesterday was a really beautiful day. After lots of hard work, hundreds of phone calls, soooo many spreadsheets and hours of prepping- I finally got to watch this incredible event unfold. I got to witness nearly 90 Holocaust survivors and over 60 Jewish teens come together and celebrate Hanukkah by exchanging stories, singing songs, showering each other with love, and above all us, being beautifully and unapologetically Jewish. I don't know if I'll ever be in a room with that many Holocaust survivors ever again. But I am confident that their experiences and struggles will never go in vain. I couldn't have said it better than the teen cochairs of the event, who wrote in their welcoming speech: "On the traditional Hanukkah menorah, there are nine candles before us. Eight for each night of the miracle of Hanukkah and 1, the 'Shamash', seen as a 'helper' to light the rest. However, after the Shamash is used to light the other eight candles, we do not extinguish its flame. Instead, we set in on the menorah, ready to'“serve' in case another candle blows out. The job of the shamash is to keep the flame alive and preserve the sanctity of the mitzvah of light. Here today as teens, in the spirit of Hanukkah, it is our job to be the Shamashim. We are here to listen to the survivor’s stories and keep their flame alive by sharing their legacies with the next generation."
