The reality is that many people have been economically impacted by the current pandemic. Angelenos like Noelle, are finding themselves unemployed and uncertain of what their next move is. Despite the stress of her unfortunate situation, Noelle decided to reach out to a friend of hers that is a nurse to see how she was doing. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
As Noelle started listening to her friend's experience she couldn't help but feel a need to take 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘪ó𝘯. She wanted to help keep her friend safe. From her living room, Noelle, created and launched the non-profit - @masksfornurses. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Noelle 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘢 (personifies) what it means to be an #AltaMed Responder and is working hard to deliver masks to nurses all over Los Angeles in a safe way. Thanks to Noelle, over 150 AltaMed nurses have PPE and can continue delivering care to our patients knowing they have the proper gear.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
You can become an #AltaMedResponder, just like Noelle by donating PPE to our nurses and dropping it off at Corp. We want to see you responding so please take a video of yourselves and tag us! ⁣💜

Our 𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘫𝘪𝘵𝘰𝘴 aren't the only ones impacted by this pandemic. High School students from AltaMed Health Services Escalera program have been unable to go to school due to coronavirus and the state "Safer at home order".⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Students, like Alyssa, are not letting these challenging times get in the way of their bright 𝘧𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘰𝘴! For most of our Escalera students, they are the first in their families to head off to college. These students are motivated to continue with the program and therefore AltaMed has arranged alternative ways for them to stay on track and receive continued mentorship.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Thanks to #AltaMedResponders, like CIT Bank, who are helping eliminate educational barriers in our 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘴 that give our rising scholars additional resources to pursue a college degree within the fields of math and science!⁣⁣

If you've got quarantine blues, no problema! Dr. Kavasery is sharing his professional medical advice on how you can become an AltaMed Responder during these times! 😉⁣
⁣
"Folks have been asking how they can help us during this time, particularly those who do not work directly in the health care field. I will share that COVID, is for us, extraordinarily challenging as a society, but we're all in this together and that means we all have a role and an opportunity and a responsibility to help.⁣
⁣
For the communities that we serve, many of our patients are isolated, many of them are now out of work, many of them are facing difficult financial and child care circumstances. All of these things are getting in the way of their health. There are a lot of things that any of you can do today to help them.⁣
⁣
You can pick up the phone and call a neighbor, you can offer to assist someone, if you have the ability to donate or share financial resources of your own, you can do that as well. You can be an advocate, you can write a letter, you can pick up the phone, you can call an elderly person that is self-quarantining. There are many ways that any of you can help today! I promise you that the more of us that are in this together, the better we'll be!"⁣
⁣
Here are some additional ways you can be an AltaMed Responder!⁣
• Call a senior that is self-quarantining and let them know you care!⁣
• Call your neighbor and ask how they're doing⁣
• Share your toilet paper stock pile with a loved one!⁣

Humble community clinics do not get the recognition that hospitals get, especially during health pandemics, like coronavirus.⁣
⁣
Dr. Ravi Kavasery, Medical Director of Quality and Population Health, wants you to know the importance of community clinics like AltaMed!⁣
⁣
"Most medical care in the United States takes place in community doctor's offices. These community clinics have been around for decades and are important for people in the communities. Another thing that's important for folks to understand is that much of the medical care that's given is provided by a type of clinic called a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) - AltaMed, for example is an FQHC."⁣
⁣
Dr. Kavasery goes on to explain how FQHC's play a vital role in American health care today. "They are 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧. Their expressed mission is to improve the lives and health of members of medically under served communities. 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 of the community. 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲.⁣
⁣
FQHC's and community clinics exists today to improve health outcomes directly within the communities."⁣
⁣
AltaMed Responders, people that support community clinics in one way or another, are part of the community and have played a significant role in ensuring that la gente get access to necessary resources to stay safe and healthy⁣
⁣
𝘈𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘴 𝘲𝘶𝘦 𝘯𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘢, we cannot let our more than 300,000 community members down - especially during times like these. Learn more about why community clinics are important and how you can become an #AltaMedResponder⁣

When news about coronavirus broke, our team and AltaMed Responders went into action. We started packaging hygiene kits for our most vulnerable patients because it's hard to stay safe and healthy when your home is a city side walk. ⁣
⁣
Although some of these patients don't have a home, they are part of 𝘯𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘥 and AltaMed 𝘧𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘢. Since March, we have packaged and provided over 1,000 kits and we will be handing out an additional 5,000 hygiene kits for our patients who need it the most. ⁣

Thanks to #AltaMedResponders, like Oportun, our communities have a fighting chance at beating this pandemic.⁣

As the number of coronavirus cases spiked in the U.S. so did the number of calls to AltaMed Health Services with concerned patients and 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦 𝘥𝘦 𝘭𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘥.⁣
⁣
Because of the "safer at home" guidelines, many of our PACE workers were no longer seeing their patients and participants. Our PACE employees didn't want to wait with their 𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘻𝘰𝘴 𝘤𝘳𝘶𝘻𝘢𝘥𝘰𝘴 - they wanted to help where ever they could!⁣
⁣
Today, many of these employees have been reassigned to help with the high volume of calls we have been receiving and are making sure that our 𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘫𝘪𝘵𝘰𝘴 and community members alike stay healthy!⁣

Thanks to #AltaMedResponders like the The Allergan Foundation, DP Air Corp and California Resources Corporation our community members needs are being answered!⁣

This is what we call #flatteningthecurve! Our frontline staff, nurses and doctors are working in some of L.A.'s most vulnerable communities to ensure that these communities, that are rich in culture, stay vibrant and healthy.

AltaMed Health Services continues to deliver quality care through outdoor assessment centers. Today, we have eight assessment areas making sure that our families and communities are safe and flourishing.

Thanks to individuals like Duane & Juliet Saikami and The Saikami Family Trust, our familias can stay healthy!

Just a few weeks ago our nurses were taking care of patients inside of clinics and PACE sites. But the coronavirus pandemic abruptly changed our lives and many of our older patients started staying home because they were too scared to go to the clinics. We still needed to care for patients and keep them safe.

Today, as part of the AltaMed Community Response, we have redeployed many of our clinic and PACE site nurses to take care of our patients at our outdoor assessments areas.

Because of the support from sponsors like AT&T, Vincor Construction Inc. and James and Christine Keegan AltaMed Health Services is able to deliver care safely and efficiently in an innovative way.

“𝘑𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘰𝘴 𝘗𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘴" - "Together we can" is especially important during times like these when we're relying on everyone to beat this pandemic.⁣

This can be a stressful time for new and expecting moms. But we haven't forgotten about your pequeñitos and that they still need care.

Now more than ever, we need to come together as a community to make sure we stay safe and healthy at home.

Families and #AltaMedResponders, like PIP Printing and Marketing Services - Downey and Bruce & Linda Pansky, are supporting our efforts to make a positive impact in our communities, barrios and in our patient's lives.

It is in times like these when can count on our #AltaMedResponders to step up to the plate and support their communities. ⁣

Christina has been a long-time #AltaMedResponder. Christina first learned about AltaMed 20 years ago when she was working as a reporter. She quickly understood the importance of AltaMed programs, such as PACE which has been providing a home away from home for our 𝘢𝘣𝘶𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘴 y 𝘢𝘣𝘶𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘴 since 1982.⁣
⁣
Today, Christina continues to be an #AltaMedResponder for the most vulnerable communities.⁣
⁣
"My purpose is to use all of my efforts to keep my family and myself safe, my clients and everybody else around me safe. And to look to organizations like AltaMed, and see what they are doing every single day. AltaMed is there for vulnerable communities and is working harder through these tough times to keep everyone safe."⁣

Many of our PACE participants shared that they are feeling anxious about going to the mercado and potentially getting sick - so we rolled up our sleeves and put together nonperishable food packages for our seniors.

Today, we’re making regular deliveries of food kits to our seniors. But more importantly, we've given them one less thing to worry about so they can focus on staying safe and healthy at home.

Thanks to #AltaMedResponders like Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan, for caring about our seniors and supporting. 💜

Altamed understands that patient care isn't always received inside of a clinic. Three weeks ago, our patient and community needs were different. The plan of outdoor assessment areas was implemented to help screen potentially sick Angelenos and Orange County residents. What would typically take months to do, our team was able to establish in days.

Today, we have 6 outdoor assessment areas that can see up to 1,500 patients per day.

These outdoor assessment areas would not be possible without the help of our sponsors a.k.a. #AltaMedResponders including Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas). Thanks for helping keep our communities safe and healthy!

"Juntos podemos” – “together we can” are words that our community has been shouting since the Chicano Movement in the 1960’s. ⁣
⁣
Today, you can still hear our community members chanting these words. In times like these, we are reminded of how much we rely on each other and how true these words still are. ⁣
⁣
However, “Juntos podemos” is not only used in times of crisis. There will be brighter days where we can shout these words together for a good cause!⁣

On behalf of the AltaMed family, thank you SeaCliff Country Club for all of your years of support and for allowing us to come into your space to fundraise for the Huntington Beach community. Our thoughts are with your team during these difficult times. 💜

Due to executive orders and the COVID-19 health mandates we have closed the club until further notice. Following the social distancing and sanitation suggestions of health officials it is necessary to combat this unprecedented crisis. We hope that you and your families stay safe and healthy during these trying times. #seacliffcc

Over the years, we’ve noticed common traits in our community members who support AltaMed – we call them AltaMed Responders!⁣
⁣
Responders are people who actively support their community. They are proactive in time of crisis, selfless, ask how to make an impact, get involved and provide positivity and reassurance to their community members.⁣
⁣
On #doctorsday, we want to thank our doctors and their medical teams – original AltaMed Responders - who provide quality care to our patients.⁣
⁣
You can also be an AltaMed Responder! Start today by sending some words of appreciation to our amazing doctors. Comment below, send us a DM or create a video and tag us. We’ll share it with our tireless doctors so they feel a little extra love on their day! ⁣

Today, we officially deployed two new "outdoor assessment areas." These sites triage our patients based on their individual health symptoms before they walk through our doors. This keeps patients in the waiting room safe.

THANK YOU to our early corporate and individual supporters who made this possible! The generosity of our amazing supporters addresses the unprecedented health needs of our community.

However, there is still a lot more to be done. So many more AltaMed high-risk patients need Essentials Kits. Patients need more "outdoor assessment areas" to protect themselves from contracting unpredictable illnesses. With your support, we will continue meeting our community’s dynamic needs.

YOUR gift = more "outdoor assessment areas." Support now by clicking here: https://altamed-s-community-response-covid-19.everydayhero.com/us/altamed-community-response-fund
