Opening Sunday, March 17th
ICA Days
If you were waiting for the final weekend to visit Days in Los Feliz, THIS IS IT! We have 3 more days, 2 more parties, and 1 more weekend to go!
This has been a yearlong investigation of literal, imagined, and metaphorical cities.
Throughout the year, Cities of Days uncovered cities in strata: moving from literal layers of Rock, to imaginary layers of Water, and ending with metaphorical layers of Oil.
Check your inbox for more details!
We come to the final event of Oil at Cities of Days! We are delighted to welcome Busted Brand to the upstairs studio for a weekend shop-in-shop featuring their collection of latex garments.
This weekend-long event caps a season-long exploration of corporeality, sensuousness, and the mystery of the lived body. Conceived over months of conversations between Days and Busted Brand, we are excited to showcase this fresh perspective on latex at the shop.
The owners will be on hand to fit people into the existing collection as well as take measurements for custom-fitted pieces!
Join us for the opening party sponsored by Wiens Brewing Company to celebrate, Friday from 6 - 8:30pm, or all weekend 11 -7pm.
Busted is a Los Angeles based fashion brand. They specialize in latex and plastic ready-to-wear garments. Busted was created to make you think, question, and explore the nature of latex. While latex is often associated with kink and fetish wear, our goal is to bring this textile to the mainstream. Busted pieces are designed and constructed to empower those who choose to wear them.
Excited to announce the new initiative highlighting and exploring different healing modalities in our upstairs studio for the duration of January and February!
Days:Spa Spa:Days is a weekly forum for therapeutic healing and practices of self care, launching us into the New Year with freshly rejuvenated bodies and minds.
In a series of sensory-oriented workshops, meals, performances and conversations co-hosted by therapeutic textile project SHELL (@shell.studies), we will be connecting those working in disparate practices throughout Los Angeles with our community at Days.
Our list of makers, thinkers, therapists and alternative healers include both those working experimentally as well as projects deeply rooted in historical practices of natural therapeutic technique. Each offers guidance developing personal toolkits of self-care and intentioned living.

Sunday (tomorrow!) morning, join us for Taiwanese breakfast with Juliana Hung of The Wax Apple from 11-2âtomorrow featuring tea stewed eggs đ„
In conjunction with the launch of Oil at Cities of Days, we will be hosting @gasdotgallery (a mobile, autonomous, experimental and networked platform for contemporary art) on Saturdays for the month of November, with their exhibit Anatomy of Oil on view!
The Wax Apple is in the upstairs studio as a shop-in-shop through the end of the year. The space is a container for, and creation of, memory, conjuring artist Juliana Hungâs Taiwanese childhood, with products selected with her Grandmother for sale. Regular Taiwanese food will help activate this project and the memories, new and old, it inspires.
â
@the_wax_apple will be active during Days' open hours: Thursdays - Sundays 11-7pm
â
Additionally, to celebrate her shop-in-shop at Cites of Days, Juliana Huang of The Wax Apple will be hosting a series of Taiwanese breakfasts on select Sundays from 11am - 2pm through the end of the year!
â
Traditionally, breakfast in Taiwan is treated as the important meal of the day. Taiwan was primarily a farming culture so breakfast was always very dough and rice heavy to fill up and energize for the day. Shops would generally open only for the early morning customers to come by and pick up food before going to work, but because the food has become so popular, some shops are now open throughout the day or even 24hrs for late nights snackers. Soymilk is also a taiwanese breakfast must!ïżœâ
We will be serving things like tea stewed hard boiled eggs, Taiwanese eggs crepe, or sticky rice stuffed pork and pickled daikon along with traditional Oolong tea.

The final installment of Cities of Days brings us into the season of Oil and metaphorical cities. Imbued with the corporeality of AnaĂŻs Ninâs Cities of the Interior, we descend into the sensuousness and mystery of the lived body. Oil is the coreâthose deepest and darkest, hidden, or perhaps unknown places.
â
Throughout the year, Cities of Days has been uncovering cities in strata: moving from literal layers of Rock, to imaginary layers of Water, and now into experiential layers of Oil. Ideas give way to desire, plans resolve into ritual, physical structures transmute into emotion.
â
Over the next four months, we explore these depths with artists, designers, craftspeople, writers, and makers of all sorts. Together, we draw back the curtains of our previously explored buildings, breaching their facades and venturing inside.

This Thursday (tomorrow!) 7pm join @toddlerew at Days for a brief tour through the SoCal museum-scape using Invisible Cities as a lens for understanding this place as constituting many concentric or simultaneous yet seemingly unrelated worlds.
-
There are over 600 museums in the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area, yet when people speak generally of our local museums, there is a strong chance they are referring only to a handful of the largest and most well-known. With his project, Todd Lerew is focusing on what he is calling 'specific' museums throughout the Los Angeles region, with an eye towards geographic and thematic diversity and an emphasis on the under-appreciated.ïżœ-
