'Hellish': Covid deaths have struck younger Latinos. Here's the economic, social fallout.

As of Dec. 23, Covid-19 had killed more than 54,000 Latinos, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention'sCOVID Tracking Project, which acknowledges that its numbers are incomplete.

"It's hard to comprehend sometimes that all of this has happened," says Tina Cisneros, who lost three family members, as families grapple with grief — and financial losses.

Our mission to advocate and support LGBTQ youth and their families has been even more critical in the Covid-19 overlay. We never stopped doing what we do - we did an instant pivot to do what we could for our community under the unprecedented health, education, housing and economic crisis.

Help from donors like you helped us do this when even the government didn’t know what to do. Please help us now so we can continue to expand our programming and develop new ways to outreach to our LGBTQ community in these hard times.

Thank you and may your family endure it’s hardships in this time of COVID-19.

Con cariño,
Latino Equality Alliance

‘We’re inundated’ says chief medical officer at L.A. County’s busiest hospital

Prevention is the best approach to Covid-19: wear a mask including when you talk to people you know. It’s not rude. Don’t shake hands, no hugs - it’s not disrespectful to stand 6 ft from others - you can still be nice. Disinfect your hands, the shared bathroom and don’t share utensils, straws, or drink from the same glass. If you venture out of your home wash your hands when you get where you are going and when you get back. Be careful anywhere that others congregate - grocery store, gas stations, restaurants, stores, malls, work.

If you do get sick ask about the drug Dexamethasone, which has modest benefits. Also, reports indicate medical teams try to avoid ventilators until absolutely necessary through alternate treatments.
