Word has reached us today of the passing of Jackie Lane, who played companion Dodo Chaplet opposite William Hartnell in the 1960s. Ms. Lane was famously private, and did not make but a tiny handful of personal appearances in the UK; she was the one companion actress from the early days of Doctor Who we just couldn't persuade to join us for an event, much as we would have liked. Rest in peace.

Jo Martin Comes to Gallifrey One, Plus Panels, Art Show & More! – Gallifrey One 2022

Gallifrey One is delighted to announce the confirmation of JO MARTIN, a previously unrevealed incarnation of the Doctor (and first Doctor of color) from Series 12, for our upcoming convention Gallifrey One: Thirty Second to Midnight in February 2022, courtesy our friends at Showmasters Events. This is currently expected to be her first appearance at a Doctor Who convention in North America and we cannot wait to welcome her to L.A.

Additionally, our Discussion Panel idea submissions form is now open; the Art Show will be opening for space reservations on July 15; and we have more news about the Dealers Room and other matters, all at the website page linked below.

Gallifrey One 2022: Our First Guest Announcements – Gallifrey One 2022

With great pleasure, Gallifrey One is delighted to announce our first confirmed guest block for our upcoming 2022 convention, Gallifrey One: Thirty-Second to Midnight, a blend of old favorites and new, including Sylvester McCoy and Sophie Aldred (the Seventh Doctor and Ace); Sacha Dhawan (the latest incarnation of the Master in Series 12 opposite Jodie Whittaker); Sophia Myles (the Madame de Pompadour in "The Girl in the Fireplace"); Nabil Shaban (the villain Sil, fresh from starring in the award-winning Reeltime Pictures film "Sil and the Devil Seeds of Arodor"); Annette Badland (Margaret Blaine the Slitheen from Series One); Stephen Gallagher (award winning writer of "Warriors' Gate" with Tom Baker and "Terminus" with Peter Davison); and of course, our perennial favorite Frazer Hines (Jamie McCrimmon).

Big Finish fans will be thrilled as we welcome back the delightful India Fisher (Charley Pollard) with three actors making their first visits, Sadie Miller (Elisabeth Sladen's daughter, who now plays Sarah Jane Smith), Christopher Naylor (the new Harry Sullivan), and India's long time colleague in the Eighth Doctor audio series, Conrad Westmaas (C'rizz), making his long-awaited first-ever appearance in North America. Jason Haigh-Ellery of Big Finish joins them throughout the weekend, as we celebrate the company entering the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest audio drama series ever!

On the creative front, Jody Houser (writer of the current Titan Comics Doctor Who series) returns, this time joined by Titan's Doctor Who artist Roberta Ingranata. Big Finish audio writer Lisa McMullin (and now BBC Studios Writers Workshop cohort) joins us for a return visit, as does Series 12 assistant director Mark Corden. Meanwhile, a trio of guests working on the current BBC Doctor Who classic animated stories will be on hand to discuss their work, including our old friend Gary Russell, the returning Rob Ritchie, and a new guest, artist Martin Geraghty. We're also welcoming back fan-favorite authors Tony Lee, David J Howe, Samantha Howe, and Reeltime's Keith Barnfather.

And we are just getting started! We'll have lots of new guest announcements this summer, including many local guests from L.A. film & television production and the printed page; and of course, more Doctor Who guests, both from our own invitations as well as guests brought over by sponsors. Though we continue to emphasize that all appearances are subject to professional commitments as well as the lingering aftereffects of the COVID-19 pandemic, we fully expect our lineup of talent to expand tremendously in the months leading up to February 2022's convention.

TICKETS FOR GALLIFREY 2022 ARE ON SALE! We've sold approximately 85% of the tickets available for 2022 and we expect sales to ramp up as we exit pandemic uncertainty, so get your tickets as soon as possible! (All the proceeds coming in from now on contribute to the guest budget, so you can expect even more with additional sales!) There are also still hotel rooms available at the Marriott LAX hotel, among others in the area.

Our special thanks to Showmasters Events (Paul Jones, Jason Joiner), Alien Entertainment (Gene Smith), Laurence Wreford, Howard Hayes, Matt Campbell, Keith Barnfather, Gareth Kavanagh at Cutaway Comics, Gary Russell and Jason Haigh-Ellery for their help with this first guest lineup! Full details on today's announcement are at the link below.

Hotel Accommodations – Gallifrey One 2022

We would like to thank all of you for your patience over the past two months, as we embarked on our big project of shifting all of the 2021 convention block rooms to 2022 (once we confirmed our 2022 dates) and then, as of today, finally opening up the rest of the rooms in the hotel for reservation. We know it's been confusing (for us as well as for all of you) but we felt it necessary to take care of our attendees as much as possible. Thankfully, we are now at the end of the process.

General hotel reservations at the Marriott LAX Hotel for the Gallifrey One 2022 weekend are now open, and you can click on the link to our Hotel Reservations page below for full details. There is also some information there about the con discount block (now mostly sold out, with a couple of nights at either end possibly being available), as well as some suggestions of other hotels in the area if the rate at the Marriott is too high for you.

To eliminate all the confusion and overlapping information, we've removed the other hotel related posts from our pages. All the important details can still be found on the Hotel Reservations page of our website.

We would like to thank our amazing partners at the Marriott (Tracie, Hilda and Romeo) for two months of patience and hard work moving all the reservations and then preparing for the full opening of reservations. They have gone above and beyond the call of duty. On the Gallifrey One side, we could not have done any of this without the diligence and determination of our Facilities Director, Joyce Lloyd, who has been involved at every step of the process; without her hard work, this would have been a disaster.

Our attendees are always the priority for us, without exception. We appreciate you sticking with us throughout it all.

As we mentioned yesterday, we also have some additional good news: you can expect Gallifrey One's first block of 2022 convention guests NEXT WEEK, featuring a classic series Doctor and companion pair, some wonderful first-time appearances (including three first-timers from Big Finish alone!) and a bunch of regulars and favorites. And that's just us getting started... more guests, along with our panel call and further convention details, will follow later in the year. We can't wait to share it all with you.

Thank you as always for your continuing support of Gallifrey One!

With great sadness, Gallifrey One must share the news that a dear and longtime member of our family, Ken Barr, passed away over the weekend after a long illness. Ken's involvement in our foundation and development as a convention cannot be overstated; we owe so much of our success to him, his ownership and operation of his longtime West L.A. speciality bookstore Ambrosia Comics & Collectibles, and his mail-order business Ken's Korner USA.

As part of our original convention team, he was instrumental in publishing many of our early program books and progress reports, promoting our event through his business, and of course, running the Gallifrey One Dealers Room for over two decades from his tables, until his health forced him to stop doing so. Everyone who visited Gallifrey One for those many years encountered Ken's perpetually smiling face and warm personality; he was probably one of the most beloved members of our team over the years.

The photo attached to this post is from our 1995 convention; a raucous panel about the monsters of Doctor Who, with Ken in the middle, flanked by our long-time guest speaker Eric Hoffman and our fan guest Larry Stewart reveling hilariously in the evil of the Daleks. For many members of our team, this is one of our favorite convention photos from the entire first decade of the event.

Though we will not be meeting in 2021 as previously announced, Gallifrey One will be dedicating our 2022 convention to Ken Barr's memory. Our dearest and deepest sympathies to Ken's brother Steve, long-time partner Diane, and to everyone who called Ken a friend... something very likely true for every person who ever met him. Rest in peace, Ken.

Gallifrey One: Thirty-Second to Midnight Postponed to 2022 – Gallifrey One 2022

With deep sadness, and in light of the ongoing worldwide COVID-19 pandemic emergency, today we must announce that we are postponing our next convention, Gallifrey One: Thirty-Second To Midnight, from 2021 to 2022.

This was certainly one of the hardest choices we've ever had to make, but it's the right one, especially due to the now-indefinite prohibition on large events in Los Angeles County. Our actual revised convention dates are currently subject to a slight complication - the Super Bowl is in Los Angeles in 2022 - but we'll have an official announcement about that in the next few months, so stay tuned!

All tickets already purchased for 2021 are being automatically applied to 2022, with no action required by ticketholders. But, for this year only, we are also offering full refunds on request (via a form linked on our website) for a limited time. The deadline for these refund requests is October 9, 2020.

For the rest of you, who have bought tickets already and are NOT requesting a refund, you'll be getting a free gift when you pick up your badge in 2022: a special 2021 commemorative pin, in honor of the "Year Without a Gally". (For those of you who don't have tickets yet, we'll have a limited supply of pins for purchase on site.)

Existing convention T-shirt and tote bag orders for 2021 will be fully honored for 2022 instead and available at that event. (Requesting a ticket refund? We will refund your merchandise as well, also upon request via the form.)

Also... we have very good news for all of you with hotel reservations that were made under the Gallifrey One discount group code: the Marriott will be moving your reservations to 2022 automatically. Yes, that means no "hotel day" in 2021. We're thrilled about that part.

Our complete announcement, with details and much more info about the postponement, new dates, tickets, hotel reservations, merchandise and more is on our website, linked below. We ask that you PLEASE read the announcement in its entirely before commenting, as it should answer most of your questions.

Thank you all for your understanding, your good wishes, and your continued support of Gallifrey One.
