Heartbeat of the River
An intimate portrayal of the dramatic journey that Pacific Salmon take from the time they are hatched to their return to the spawning grounds. Join these amazing fish in their underwater realm as they fight to survive, evading all kinds of predators, with a single purpose. They have just one chance to spawn and complete the cycle of life.
One judge noted, “This is a spectacular documentary that will be very hard to beat on every level. It's informative, it's one of the most brilliantly shot films I've seen and it's technically impeccable.”

Jed Or Alive
Survival expert Jed Coombes has been a television fixture for years, travelling the world and overindulging in the trappings of fame and fortune. With no film crew accompanying him, Jed is dropped on an island with a camera as his only companion. After initially struggling to abandon his idle tendencies, he is finally forced to become the person he has pretended to be for so long.
This is an amazingly well done mockumentary written and directed by Ed and Jack Mellin. The acting is superb. It won Best in Show, among other awards.

So ends another session of Cinema WorldFest and now we bring you our winners!

This wasn’t the largest group we’ve had (I’m sure Covid had something to do with that), but the competition was extra stiff this time around.

Thorsten Schade’s German, comedy/thriller, The Invitation returns to take away seven awards, including Best Score, Screenplay, Sound Design and Acting. This is still one of my favorites.

Another standout that also blends comedy with a difficult subject matter was, Two Weeks Notice. Writer, Marisa Hood and director, Melanie Thompson land eight awards, with Best Acting Duo, Comedy and Drama Short and Acting Awards. The writing in this film was spot on.

Arctic Night is a visual spectacle! FengFeng’s documentary about life in Savlbard, Norway, an extreme northern community at the North Pole and the effects constant night through the winter months and eternal daylight during the summer play on the people who live there. FengFengs team take awards for Cinematography and Best Documentary Feature.

The big winner this session is, The Colour of Spring. Canadian writer and director, Paul Andrew Kimball's emotional and ambitious film about jealousy and insecurity takes away awards in Acting, Cinematography, Lighting… and Best in Show.

Congratulations to all our winners and thank you for sharing your stories and hard work with us.

Please keep a look out for our sister festival, World Premiere Film Awards which will be closing in the next couple weeks.

Manasanamaha - Directed by Deepak Reddy - India

“Manasanamaha is a cute romantic comedy where Bollywood meets the Matrix!! The pace is fun and frantic and the shooting style is fresh and stylistic which keeps the viewer on the edge of their seat.
This is a fun film and something for the entire family. Something you’ll watch with a smile on your face... which will put a smile on director Deepak Reddy’s face”

So ends the most intense session of Cinema WorldFest to date. With a record number of entries... music videos, screenplays and features... this was by far the most challenging to judge.

We saw the return of the gritty, comedy thriller, short "The Body". It took away, best cinematography, director and dark comedy. I love this thing!

Defenceless is back with its spotlight on domestic abuse. It's a heartbreaking and difficult... but important film to watch. It takes away best actress, supporting actress and actor awards. Nicely done!

The Song of the Sea is a beautifully shot fantasy film from French director, Pierre-André Le Leuch. Who doesn't like stories involving mermaids?

Alaska Long Hunters is a brilliantly shot documentary about being stranded in the frozen north. It is a beautifully told story about the fragility of life and how quickly things can change. The cinematography is incredible.

The big winner this session is Gibelys Coronado's political thriller Two Autumns in Paris. When you match a brilliant director with amazing talent and give them a really really good script, the result is magic! This is easily one of the best films of the year which is why they're walking away with ten awards including best in show!

Truly remarkable how seriously CWFA took the vetting of the entries. The 12 awards for QUEZON'S GAME felt even more rewarding as all categories were up for grabs... unlike other festivals where you apply for each category. Many thanks for the appreciation and all the best to you guys!!!
