Dear 2019 LA Summer Bachata Festival Attendees, . As many of you know, nine-time world salsa champions Karen Forcano and Ricardo Vega, who just received their Emmy Award nominations last month for their outstanding choreography and performances on NBC’s hit television show “World of Dance,” taught and performed at the 2018 LA Summer Bachata Festival. . We fully expected that Karen and Ricardo would join us again at the 2019 LA Summer Bachata Festival. In fact, there was absolutely nothing to indicate that they would be unable to return to Los Angeles this week. . However, due to new U.S. travel restrictions affecting citizens from Latin American countries, which are completely beyond our control, these world-renowned superstars were unable to obtain a visa renewal in time to travel from South America to Los Angeles for the 2019 LASBF. . As a result, Karen, Ricardo, and the entire LASBF team are extremely disappointed and truly heartbroken because Karen and Ricardo will not be able to join us at the 2019 LASBF. . Even though this unfortunate situation is totally out of our hands, Karen, Ricardo, and the LASBF team are still deeply and sincerely sorry that we have to be the bearers of such bad news. . We assure you that we will continue to work very hard to deal with the U.S. government’s unexpected delays in processing visa renewals so that Karen and Ricardo can join us all again soon in 2020. .
