Shana Lutker’s Contemporary Museum of Temporary Containers (CMTC) is an installation of single-use takeout containers painted a single color and organized by size, shape, or former contents. The work encourages creative reuse and considers the limits of sustainability and recycling at a critical juncture of environmental responsibility.

Nonfood’s algae-harvesting greenhouse at Orcutt Ranch Horticulture Center presents an underexplored alternative food-production option for sustainable and nutritious products. Join #CurrentLA artist Ry Rocklen in the belly of Palms Park, where he presents a suite of bronze sculptures and Food Group: The Body Palms, a performance, featuring actors wearing costumes of some of America's favorite handheld foods. Moving through the park as if it were a giant body, Food Group highlights the power and danger of these foods and our relationships to them. First performance is this Sunday, Oct 13 at 3pm. Join CURRENT:LA FOOD artist Emily Marchand this Saturday, Oct 5 to assemble 1,000 lunches to benefit MEND Poverty in Pacoima followed by a picnic lunch atop an 8,000 square feet textile she created out of compostable fabric and embedded with edible seeds. CURRENT:LA FOOD puts a new spin on traditional international triennials by democratizing the way people access art.
The initiative shifts art away from the museum environment and places temporary public art projects and public programs in the neighborhoods of Los Angeles, where residents and visitors live, work, and play.
DCA’s CURRENT:LA FOOD will premiere on Saturday, October 5 until Sunday, November 3 featuring 15 public art experiences and 75 live events and discussions in 15 LA parks.

The fifteen CURRENT:LA FOOD artists will provide their perspectives challenging how we view food issues in our city through public art. Collectively, they will reveal a multidimensional approach to a needed conversation.
