Miracles Christmas Parade

Miracles Christmas Parade 1st Saturday in December Step off is at 6 pm Parade runs from 34th and Ave. Q. to 34th and Indiana.
Miracles Christmas Parade Celebrating Christmas. The aroma of firewood, grilled hotdogs and hamburgers filled the air as a Lubbock tradition - Christmas Parade Tailgating was birthed. An estimated 30,000 people line 34th Street for the Miracles Christmas Parade. Smoke from fire pits and cookers hung low in the night sky as lights from brightly lit floats and Christmas lighting from the many decorated shops reflected the holiday cheer. Post parade response from the spectators along 34th street, participants, and city leaders, who are calling this, "An exciting new tradition", is very favorable. Planning is currently underway to make the Miracle Christmas Parade a great success again.

It doesn't matter if you say, "Feliz Navidad", "Joyeux Noel", "Frohe Weihnachten", or "Buon Natale", it’s still Merry Christmas! Christmas is celebrated all over the world in many, many different ways. Join us for what promises to be the best parade ever. Help us spark the magic of Christmas and the excitement of the season during the Miracles Christmas Parade. Please join us on 34th Street in Lubbock for our version of "A Family Christmas." The parade starts promptly at 6:00 PM and includes lighted units for that extra special effect. Spectators start gathering early in the evening to get the perfect spot to watch marching bands, fire trucks, families, beauty queens, horses, dozens of decorated floats, honored guest and much more. The primary reason for the parade is to give back to the community and to promote an atmosphere of family fun, family entertainment, and togetherness. Each year, the parade will benefit the United States Marines “Toys for Tots”. Each year, we will work to make Christmas a magical season for families on the South Plains, and a time of sharing with those in need. There will be a "Toys for Tots" campaign conducted by the U.S. Marines and the Miracles Christmas Parade. Families will be invited to bring toys to the parade. The U.S. Marines will march along the route and collect toys from the attending families. Together, the citizens of Lubbock and surrounding communities will "Fill the Float". Hot chocolate, coffee, and hot apple cider will be sold at various locations along the parade route to benefit Lubbock charitable organizations. Including Lubbock Independent School Bands. The Miracles Christmas Parade promises to become one of the largest and most important events in the region. Over 30,000 people attending the parade each year. Each year, the event will grow until it is the primary Christmas event in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. Families have begun a tradition of "camping out" at the same location each year. Spectators will gather along 34th Street to enjoy this new holiday event.

Mission: The Miracles Christmas Parade exists to bring cheer to every spectator, participant and organizer and to provide families and individuals an event that will build lasting holiday memories. The Miracles Parade is produced by a group of community volunteers that donated their time.

You know there’s something magical about Christmas. Miraculous things happen that are unexplainable. All my pants shrunk over the holidays even the ones hanging in the closet. Now that’s a Miracle. 😂

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;
And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;

"Now, DASHER! now, DANCER! now, PRANCER and VIXEN!
On, COMET! on CUPID! on, DONNER and BLITZEN!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my hand, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;
A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.

His eyes -- how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath;
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook, when he laughed like a bowlful of jelly.

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,
HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD-NIGHT!

The Miracles Christmas Parade organization is asking for prayers for one of our own. Wrangler Larry Lindsey has been with us since the first step off of the parade -- our "first" Wrangler.

Monday evening, Larry was in a serious vehicle accident and is in serious condition. Any of you who know Larry know that he is selfless, caring, giving, and just an all-around great human being. He and his family need prayers and well wishes. He has a tough journey ahead.

Let us "be the Miracle" and help out a Wrangler that has loved doing so much for all of us and the community.

If you have a story about Larry we would love to hear it.

The Miracles Christmas Parade would like to wish Texas Tech Cheer and Pom Squads the best of luck in Daytona at the 2019 NCA & NDA Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championship this Thursday and Friday in Florida. TTU Cheer was national champions in 2017 and TTU Pom has been national champions for 2017 and 2018.

The Cheer and Pom groups where the parade Grand Marshal in 2017 and we always enjoy them being part of the parade.

Good Luck in DAYTONA!

Happy Groundhog Day!

The groundhog wakes up from hibernation on February 2.

If the groundhog sees its shadow when it emerges from its burrow, there will be six more weeks of winter.

If it does not see its shadow, spring will arrive soon.

This tradition started in Europe as Candlemas Day. Germans who settled in Pennsylvania in the 1700s brought the custom to America.

Pennsylvania's Punxsutawney Phil is the most well-known, but more than a dozen states celebrate with their own groundhogs, such as Georgia's General Beauregard Lee and Buckeye Chuck in Ohio and Punxsutawney Phil - in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.

His full name is "Punxsutawney Phil, Seer of Seers, Sage of Sages, Prognosticator of Prognosticators, and Weather Prophet Extraordinary.''

Phil has correctly predicted the beginning of spring 100% of the time, according to his owners. However, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the groundhog shows "no predictive skill" for the last few years.

Is the parade gonna happen this year? I live on the parade route and was disappointed that it wasn't rescheduled last year
But what about the winter storm? Will the parade date be moved?
We are extremely excited to see the parade this year here at BPL Plasma! We are actually located on 34Th street.
