Numerous segments of the sport are incorporated in our program for the handler to receive points for successfully handling dogs in any of these working dog arenas: Tracking, Obedience, Working Trials, Conformation Shows, Breed Surveys, volunteering at sanctioned events, Search and Rescue. Sportsmanship, one of the most important virtues to teach our children, and is regarded as a component of morality, fair play and good character. Our programs intent is to incorporate education and sport initiatives. To provide seminars and competitions. To encourage experimentation, foster leadership and camaraderie. To recognize and reward youth who demonstrate responsibility and dedication to academics and the sport of Schutzhund.

Schutzhund USA Youth Scholarship (SUSAYS)

Our Mission Statement: Promote the dog sport of Schutzhund amongst the youth of the United States of America. To provide educational opportunities about the sport, highlight
the accomplishments of our youth by rewarding those who have excelled in the dog sport, demonstrated good sportsmanship, academic and civic responsibility.
The Schutzhund USA Youth Scholarship is intended to be recognition in the form of an educational grant to those well-rounded student scholars. The Schutzhund USA Youth Scholarship Committee believes that it is very important for students to recognize their own potential early in their academic careers, and encourage them to foster its growth. America’s youth are not represented in the dog sport, if we do not promote this dog sport in the United States, it may not grow to have the bright future we have intended.

One of the most difficult tasks of the Sieger Show Committee is to find a photographer. For years, we have been disappointed with the photography results. We get a lot of thank-you but no thank-yous when we invite photographers. Any volunteers? Any recommendations? Please message us with your input and suggestions.

03/07/2016

There has been some misunderstanding of the Performance Test Rules for the 2016 USCA Sieger Show regarding the addition of the "free heeling" (off leash) for 5 paces to the judge at the end of the "Attack On Dog Out Of Motion" exercise.

“Free heeling (off leash) only directly effects the ability to earn a Performance Award (5/5 scoring) - not the ability to earn Pronounced “a” and proceed to the ring.”

The Performance Test Scoring System (5/5) has been implemented over the last few years to better evaluate the differences within a category specifically; Insufficient “ng” 1pt, Sufficient “vh” 2pt and “Pronounced (a)” 3-4-5 out of 5 points.

The addition of “free heeling” was approved by the BAC as a performance goal to better separate the dogs that are rated 4 or 5pt Pronounced “a” from the others. While it is a goal that we should all be training to achieve, it is not mandatory requirement to be evaluated “pronounced “a” with a 3 or 4 rating and continue to the ring just as in the past. If you are unable to free heel (off leash) with 3 or fewer commands /attempts it is still allowed to place the dog on leash and heel 5 paces to the judge to complete the performance test and be evaluated pronounced “a” . Dogs that are unable to free heel (off leash) may not earn a score of greater than 4 and will not be eligible for Performance Award given to dogs earning a total of 9 or 10 in the test (4/5,5/4,5/5).

The wording in the rules has been edited to better explain these requirements and is posted on the website.

The proposed changes for the 2017-2019 Performance Test are also listed and are open for discussion. Members should contact the BAC to add their input on the proposed changes.
