Friday, August 14th.
While we've been busy assessing damage from the storms, the bees have been busy too, and we're happy to see that!
We're extremely grateful for all of your love and support after a pretty remarkable rain event the other night!
We will be CLOSED this weekend but we THINK we MIGHT be able to reopen the season early next week (for another week or so).
We have to get some heavy equipment out onto the fields to repair some deer fencing (deer LOVE sunflowers) and do some other cleanup before we can reopen.
The ground is too soft from the rain to get that equipment out in the field right now, but with a little sunshine, we hope to get that work done over the weekend.
If we get more rain, that will likely set us back.
We'll keep you posted here.
Thank you for letting us be a special part of your summer! You really mean the world to us!
SPECIAL NOTE: We've had a tremendous amount of trespassers the past few days and it's not only disheartening, it's against the law to trespass on private property. We kindly ask that you please respect our family farm.
We hope to see you in the sunflowers again soon!π»π»
UPDATE: Tickets are now available for Thursday and early Friday. Tickets may be released for Wednesday afternoon pending how much rain we get Tuesday night.
Limited tickets for Tuesday, April 14th are now available!
Hours tomorrow are noon until 7pm. Find tickets here - www.burnsidefarms.com/tickets
If you plan to visit tomorrow, please wear boots! The field is drying out quickly but it will likely still be wet in spots tomorrow.
THE REST OF THIS WEEK INTO THE WEEKEND - Please bear with us as this looks to be a challenging weather week. We will release tickets as long as we feel field conditions will be safe for visitors.
WEDNESDAY may/might be another rain day but THURSDAY and FRIDAY look good. That said, we need to see if/how much rain we get on Wednesday before releasing tickets for Thursday and Friday.
LATER THIS WEEK we will assess the weekend forecast and release weekend tickets accordingly.
We will keep you updated here!
Please stay well and thanks again for being a friend of the farm!
Sunday, September 15th. It's a beautiful day to get lost in a field of sunflowers!
This is about as good as it gets! If you have the choice of visiting now or next weekend, come out today! The weather and the flowers are perfect!
We've had little or no rain the past few weeks and there's no rain in the forecast for this week. Without a little help from Mother Nature, this field will fade quickly.
That said, we expect it to still be very pretty next weekend but not like it will be for the next few days.
We are open daily 10-6. Admission is $8 per person (children under two are free).
We'll have an announcement about this week's Sundown hours sometime mid-week.
Fall "cutting" sunflowers are in limited supply as we wait for that crop to start blooming. We have lots of gladiolus right now.
It's looking like the current sunflower maze will be the best of the three we've planted. The next maze will start blooming soon.
We hope to see you soon!

Wednesday, September 12th. SUNFLOWER MAZE & FALL SUNFLOWERS UPDATE: We have a nice canopy in the sunflower maze now. The plants are at the stage where they will grow more than an inch per day so long as we don't get too much rain (too much rain can slow/stall their growth). It looks like we're on track for an early October bloom for our first ever FALL sunflower maze and fall "cutting" sunflowers. We hope to see you soon!
January, 1st 2018. Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and we wish you the very best in 2018!
Our 2018 Festival of Spring is only about three months away. Spring flowers grow and bloom based on the late winter/early spring weather patterns. Weβll be able to announce an opening date for spring after the flowers start growing. We have a few surprises for 2018 and weβll fill you in on the details in the coming months leading up to spring.
Until then, have a safe winter and we canβt wait to see your smiling faces in the tulip fields this spring!
Dancin' in the breeze!
Thursday, February 11th. Thoughts of warm spring breezes in the tulip fields are just about the only thing getting us through this brutal winter wind today!
Early April is only about 50 days away! #FestivalOfSpring #BurnsideFarms

Friday, March 27th. Update: We're still waiting on some cues from Mother Nature.
We know you're patiently waiting for our announcement regarding the 2015 Festival of Spring - Holland in Haymarket. Rest assured, it's coming soon.
Everything is growing and on a warm 70 degree day, they grow really fast. By contrast, when nighttime temperatures drop to near or below freezing, everything stops growing and it takes a while to get growing again.
While we wait, enjoy a short time-lapse video from 2014 put together by swell.tv facebook.com/swelltv #swelltv
Don't forget, the 2015 Festival of Spring is at our new, larger location at the corner of Rt. 15 and Logmill Rd. in Haymarket. Just four miles from last years location. We'll see you there!
