We will be thinking of our Colfax Family on May 16th! We’d love to see that you and your kids are enjoying something fair-related that day — wear an old World Fair t-shirt, make a homemade sno-cone or root beer float, create and play games, make slime, listen to fun music, eat popcorn, splash in a sprinkler, if possible! Post your fun ‘2020 World Fair At Home’ photos in your stories and tag us.
We’d also love to share your favorite World Fair memories post in comments or share a photo in stories and tag us.

Colfax Yearbooks are a GO!!! 📸📗

We hope everyone is safe and well. We wanted to let you know a bit of positive news we got this week. We found out that our yearbook company, www.yblive.net, will still be able to make our yearbooks for us! Amidst our unfortunate change of plans, we are still working hard to create memories for all of our students.

⭐️ We need more photos! To upload your photos from your computer or phone, please follow these instructions:
• Go to www.yblive.net
• Click "Photo Post" and select our school.
• Click on the folder for the grade level or event and upload your photos.

⭐️ For the first time, we are going to publish pictures from home! Please post photos from the last few weeks to the "HOMESCHOOLING" folder. Some ideas are: creating art, physical activities, Zoom conference photos, spending time with family, etc.

⭐️ Important things to remember:

➡️ All Parents: Place your yearbook order now! We will be ordering significantly fewer yearbooks this year under the new circumstances, so please make sure you get your order in ASAP. Go to www.yblive.net and click Shop Online. Yearbooks are $30 each. **Credit card fees apply.

While you're there, don’t forget to order your LOVELINE! (This is a separate order from the yearbook.) Click on "Yearbook Ads" to purchase your LoveLine. (Full page $100, Half page $50, Quarter page $25) The website has easy to use templates to build your personalized LoveLine or you can upload your own design. LoveLines are a fundraiser for Colfax and these funds do not go to the yearbook company -- we need this fundraiser more than ever with all of our Spring fundraisers canceled.

➡️ Fifth Grade Parents: Don’t forget to upload your student's baby picture, instructions were emailed, contact Maribel for help.

➡️ Room Parents: Please check your class Shutterfly albums and upload any great photos to the Yearbook site under the grade folder.

⭐️ At this time deadline to submit all photos and LoveLines is April 24th.

The yearbook order deadline is still to be determined, but don’t wait, buy now so we make sure to have enough! This year will be a memorable one already, but let’s send our students off to summer with all the best memories we’ve had so far.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact our Yearbook Chair: [email protected]

Stay healthy everyone!

We are incredibly lucky to be supported by our local community in a major way. We depend on our Community Sponsor income and donations to our Silent Auction and events to fund important programs like Science, Technology, Art, Classroom Aides and more. This is our chance to do our part to order from and shop with our local businesses to help them through this difficult time.

When considering take-out/delivery from local restaurants or other purchases, please scroll through this album and support these folks who support Colfax!

We'll be adding to this album as we receive more offers and requests. To view the full list of Colfax Sponsors, click here: www.colfaxpace.org/sponsors

Our extraordinary school staff have gone above & beyond to be extra communicative, super supportive, and amazingly helpful during this crazy time. From the Zoom conferences, emails and drive through pick-ups, our staff have been extremely positive and cheerful, which we all know isn’t always easy, especially now!! I’ve gone through the drive-through twice already, and seeing the teachers’ smiling faces (behind the masks) immediately lifts up my and my kids’ spirits. My kids didn’t realize they missed school so much until they saw their teachers working so hard behind the scenes. This is all to say, THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts to our principal, staff and teachers for ALL you do for our children and our community. You have been given an incomprehensible challenge, but your command and empathy have provided so much encouragement and optimism for us all.

03/14/2020

Dear Colfax Parents,

We are reaching out to you with an update about upcoming Colfax PACE activities in light of the current COVID-19 situation and school closure. The state’s public health experts have determined that gatherings should be postponed or canceled across the state until at least the end of March.

📚Read-A-Thon
Our Read-A-Thon is coming to a close and is scheduled to end on Sunday, March 15 at 8pm. While we understand that families may have other priorities right now, we are keeping ColfaxReads.com open for logging minutes if your students want to finish the challenge. Reading may be a great distraction for our kids and something productive for them to do while staying inside during these next few rainy days. Please feel free to make the choice that is right for you, but if your kids are still excited about reaching their reading goal, please keep logging! If you are using a paper log, please hold onto it and return it to your teacher when school resumes.

🌯Chipotle Restaurant Fundraiser
Our Chipotle restaurant fundraiser is scheduled for Sunday, March 15 from 4-8pm. If you would still like to take advantage of this opportunity to raise funds for Colfax, we are leaving this on the calendar as a take-out option. We are not encouraging families to gather for dine-in for this event.

🎸Kidchella
Our Kidchella rock concert on Saturday, March 28 has been postponed. PACE is working hard to reschedule and will update families of participants as soon as we have more information. Rehearsals at Burbank Music Academy have been suspended and will resume at some point when we're back at school.

Our PACE board, committees and volunteers will still be working hard throughout the closure to plan and accommodate for changes to our spring events and programs, as well as the much-needed funding these activities provide for our school. If you have questions about any of the above, please email PACE at [email protected].

Stay safe, friends!

Warmly,
Sonja Young & Jacey Kunka
PACE Co-Presidents

Our Story

Dedicated, involved parents providing an enriched education for all children through fundraising excellence.

Why do we fundraise? As parents, we appreciate the outstanding educational experience our children receive at Colfax. We also recognize it as a great privilege – one that we must all work together to preserve. Delivering this extraordinary education is not possible with LAUSD funds alone. So...we FUNDRAISE!

Last year, it cost us over $500,000 to provide for the amazing classroom aides, enrichment staff, technology and programs that all Colfax students enjoy. The cost of providing these programs increases every year, so we need absolutely everyone to join us in our efforts!

Can anyone send a suggested daily schedule that actually can work. Need to stop the Fortnite madness.
Can someone confirm that there is no orchestra tomorrow because of early dismissal please😁?
Can anyone tell me the positive aspects of the school approved/encouraged video game Prodigy? My 1st grader finished gigi and “moved on” to prodigy but I’m struggling to see any positive. Seems like a huge time suck. The problems that need to be solved (in order to advance) are so easy. “Which number is greater?”??? There’s ZERO learning happening. Plus, she says she can’t turn it off when I tell her or she’ll lose her place because that’s how it works. She gets stressed about it. Between that and it taunting her with benefits of “becoming a member,” I’m pretty annoyed. Please advise!
