Rooms are booked for our favorite horse show! We are looking forward to seeing friends and amazing horses compete at the JR League Horse Show in Lexington, KY. Want to join us for the fun, ask about details so you too can come with us and attend all or part of this very special National Level Show. 😀

The Lexington Junior League has a long, proud horse show history made possible by the exhibitors who return to Lexington year after year, and it is our pleasure to announce that we will welcome you back for the 84th annual show this July 6-11, 2020 at the Kentucky Horse Park.

You can find the 2020 Prize List on our website (https://bit.ly/LexPrizeList2020), and you can expect to receive it in the mail in the coming days.

The health, safety, and wellbeing of our entire horse show family is our top priority, so we are developing protocols in accordance with USEF guidelines and state and local health regulations. We will provide more detailed information soon, but the most immediate alteration for the 2020 show will be the suspension of box and specialty seating options. We will honor box seat renewals in 2021 for the 2019 box seat holders, but we will proceed without those seating options this year in order to best meet the social distancing protocols.

We look forward to seeing you in July! If you have questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out to the 2020 Horse Show Chair, Betsy Davies at [email protected].

Important reminder to wear helmets while at home too!!

Important reminder to wear helmets while at home too!!

PSA regarding always wearing your helmet:

I was riding a horse this weekend that I ride every day who has never so much as tripped. I was riding in the arena we ride in daily. It was a beautiful, dry, sunny day and the footing was great.

It was a low-key and otherwise unremarkable ride, but she lost her footing for a step and we both went down HARD. I was still in the saddle when we hit the ground and my head hit the sand. My helmet is cracked and the adjustment straps inside are broken. THE ONLY THING MY HELMET CONNECTED WITH WAS SOFT ARENA SAND. Aside from a few minor sore muscles I am totally fine.

Please, please always wear your helmet when riding. Accidents can happen at the most unlikely of times, under the most innocuous of circumstances.

See link below to an article referencing a study that found that 45.2% of Traumatic Brain Injuries in adults were from horseback riding, compared to 20.2% from contact sports.

***ONE IMPACT
Replace any equestrian helmet that is damaged, or has been involved in an impact from a fall. Equestrian helmets are designed to help protect the rider’s brain and head from one serious impact, such as a fall from a horse. You may not be able to see the damage to the foam, but the foam materials in the helmet will crush after an impact. That means that the foam in the helmet can’t help protect the rider’s brain and head from another impact. ***

You can buy a brand new, safe schooling helmet for $50 and in 5 minutes of your time you can order it online and have it delivered directly to your doorstep.

For $50 you can also buy:

- 2 bags of grain
- A night out at the movies for 2 with popcorn and a soda
- 1/3 of a tank of diesel for your truck
- A HELMET THAT MIGHT SAVE YOUR LIFE

A Celebration of Horses: The American Saddlebred with William Shatner

The excitement continues at Ravenscroft Equestrian & Event Center as new horse enthusiasts reach out inquiring about our multiple service offerings and others inquire to move their beloved horse to our facility. Although a
“vintage" video by today's standard, this approx 25 minute video by William Shatner (aka Captain Kirk of Star Trek) he details the brilliance and versatility of the American Saddlebred. In addition, he highlights our draw to the horse, breeding, showing, the need for sales from breeding and lesson programs utilizing older, seasoned former show horses teaching students. "The Celebration of the Horse" is a wonderful short video I hope you watch and see why we have dedicated our farm and lives to the brilliance of the American Saddlebred and their smaller version the American Hackney Pony. If you want to learn more about lessons, training/boarding, or ownership opportunities or a brillant show horse, please contact David Frazier for more information.

FOR ADOPTION - Please share!! She is one of 4 remaining rescues I pulled from going to bad auction in SC where they most likely would have gone to kill buyer. PLEASE HELP ME HELP THEM!!

Searching for a loving, forever home to this sweet 3 yr old small hackney pony filly. Only about 46” tall. Her name is “Tina” but it should be Ms. Personality!! She has such much personality and is amazingly sweet!! Would be ideal therapeutic pony since so gentle. Not trained to ride or drive but was imprinted early, halter broke, lunges, good for farrier, very gentle.

Her mother was older and malnourished when I rescued her mother and others. She was foaled out in my care and needs a home where she can have a stall (with a fan...she’s a diva) and turnout. She’s a bit afraid to be outside at night. Prefers day turnout. Lowest on pecking order always regardless of groups so needs to be with gentle companion. Located in Raleigh NC area. Have paperwork from previous owner, looks like she could be registered if desired. Companion or pet home best fit for her. Need help completing rehoming ASAP. Contact David Frazier at 919-610-4133 or via FB messenger.
