Celebrating the Army’s birthday: In June of 1775, the Second Continental Congress met in Philadelphia to create the Continental Army—a unified colonial fighting force—with the hopes of a more organized battle against its colonial oppressors.

The 1st Cavalry Division Horse Cavalry Detachment, US Army Fort Hood, can be seen in the Rose Parade as one of our equestrian units. The unit supports the 1st Cavalry Division and Fort Hood by participating in ceremonies and other events, supporting the U.S. Army in its public relations and recruiting efforts, and preserving and maintaining the standards of drill and traditions of the U.S. Cavalry during the 1800s.

We’re celebrating Asian Pacific American Heritage Month by recognizing Pasadena small business owner, Nicki. She started SoEn Cookie Grams as an artistic outlet through the hustle and bustle of being a mom, wife and managing a full-time career. Recently, she used her passion for decorating sugar cookies to pay homage to her birth country, Thailand. Nicki’s talent brings smiles to special occasions throughout the community, including our own 1943 Rose Queen Mildred Miller.

I found these negatives in an album dated "1903-1928". I think they're Rose Parade related? No other info was available other than the dates and the photographer was my G-Grandfather who resided in Santa Monica at the time, but traveled around the LA area with his Kodak Box Camera. A big parade like the Rose would have attracted him. R.A. Carpenter Photographer. Scanned on an Epson V600.
