We’re over the moon - we have some super exciting news to share! We want to offer you something to look forward to! We’re getting ready to share not one but TWO new locations for our 2021 Escapes. ⠀
⠀
We know this year hasn’t been easy and we’re certainly aware that the road ahead is still uncertain, but we’re adapting and planning in order to bring you Escapes in 2021. Experiences like these take a lot of planning that needs to be happening now.
⠀
These Escapes will look a little different than in years past - with smaller groups, extensive COVID protocols to keep you all safe, and fewer hugs - but we know we can deliver an experience that’s just as fulfilling and enlightening as those in years past. ⠀
⠀
So stay tuned! We’ve got some big news coming December 15th.

Can’t wait until the 15th? Sign up for our Insider newsletter to get advance notice!

Day 4 call to action!
Women in charge: Post a quote from a female CEO/ Councilwoman/ Governor/ Mayor/ Senator/ Athlete/ Entertainer in your city/town/state that you admire and respect. Take it a step further, how can you support her?
...........................................................

Meet Jen Gurecki CEO of @CoalitionSnow, Editor in Chief of @SISUMagazine, and founder of @zawadisha. She is unapologetically herself and uses her platforms to share a no bull sh*t perspective that we admire and appreciate. She does this through honest personal commentary and elevating the voices of those that need to be heard.

Jen shared her thoughts on Small Business Saturday... visit @yogurecki to read the full post.

"I'm not interested in the fast growth and the profit over purpose, people, and planet.

Let's face it, I'm not cut out to be a traditional CEO, nor do I want to be. I can't pretend to be someone I'm not or sacrifice my values in the name of "doing what I'm supposed to do." While it would be nice to have fewer nights screaming into a pillow because I'm so afraid/unsure/overwhelmed with everything that goes into running a small business, I also can't imagine doing anything else.

Every day I get to create something that is fully in line with my vision of the world I want to live in. There’s an incredible amount of freedom and purpose in owning a small business.

Small is beautiful. Small is strong. Small is what employs nearly 50% of people in this country. Small is quirky, adventurous, real, fun, and smart. Small is big if we want it to be.

Small businesses like Coalition need you. Not just today, not just in 2020, but every damn day. To all of you who've been there for us, thank you. You are the wax to our skis, the buckles to our boots, the wind in our hair. We are incredibly grateful for you."

Please support Jen by subscribing to SISU, shopping her rad feminist apparel, and buying your next pair of skis or snowboard from Coalition Snow.

We believe in being lifelong learners.

No matter how much experience we gain there is always more we can learn. We love acquiring "tools" for our toolbox. There are so many nuggets of wisdom that come from all-women environments.

Learning from and with other women provides a unique opportunity to be successful in a supportive and fun environment.

We celebrate the wins both big and small.

We understand when things are frustrating and allow for the
whole range of emotions that come with learning new skills.

We are your cheerleaders.

Your success is our success.

Honor our differences: Post a photo of a woman in your community of different ethnicity, religion, or generation and share something about them that inspires you.
.................................

This beautifully diverse group of women is why AdventurUs Women exists.

This was the team behind REI's Outessa, a national event series for women similar to the Escapes but on a much larger scale. Imagine 400 women together for a weekend playing in the outdoors... it was magic in so many ways. Our team was different in more ways than we were the same... age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, work experience, life experience, personality... but together it was a dream team.

Working with these women was empowering, inspiring, and life-changing. We knew the impact the events were having on the lives of the women attending and we put our hearts into every piece of what we did. I have never worked so hard, slept so little, and loved every minute of it. The amount of respect I have for each of these women is endless. I learned a lifetime of lessons from them and still lean on them. When Outessa was sunsetted it was the experience I gained with these women both personally and professionally that inspired me to create AdventurUs Women.

Our Culture and Values help define what it means to be an AdventurUs Woman.

We we say we welcome all women... we mean all women.

We often see women putting limits on themselves, especially when it comes to seeking adventure in the outdoors. That inner voice of doubt is there nagging... you are not strong enough, fit enough, experienced enough, small enough....

We are here to tell you... YOU ARE F**KING FANTASTIC just as you are. We are not saying you are perfect... who is? Not us! Perfection would be so boring.

We are on a life long journey of discovery, learning, failing, succeeding, growing and evolving. Sound about right.... then you are in the right place!

Selfie love: Post the last selfie you took and share your favorite thing about yourself.
................................................

Favorite thing about myself: my hugs. If I must say so, I think I am a really good hugger.... love giving them and love receiving them.

Just a warning that once we are in the clear to give hugs freely again I am coming for you. I have a year's worth of repressed hugs waiting to be released. No one will be safe! 🤗

Also, love that my last selfie was not solo.

As our community grows it is important to us that we share our Culture and Values as they guide us in our decision-making. These values are the backbone of who we are, the experiences we create, and the community we hold space for. This week we are sharing them here.

Day 1 – Admiration: Post a photo of a woman you admire and share why.

This week we are participating in the @outdoorjournaltour social media challenge as a part of their “I am women everywhere” campaign!!

It’s pretty simple, each day we’ll share their prompt to encourage the celebration of women in our communities. -

Tag @outdoorjournaltour and use the #iamwomeneverywhere hashtag. They’ll repost what you share!
................................................
Day 1 – Oh goodness in many ways it was really hard to pick just one woman that I admire as we know so many amazing women, and yet Lisbeth stuck out for me. This woman has an enthusiasm for life that is contagious, a desire for trying new things that is inspiring, and a positive attitude that is endless.

Lisbeth decided that in 2019 she was going to learn more about the outdoors and I was lucky enough to be along for the journey. We met when she was a student in the Wilderness Travel Course that I teach as a volunteer... it was the beginning of many firsts.

Our snowshoeing day was her first time in the snow!
2 weeks later she was backpacking for the first time to snow camp in the Sierra!

She also joined us at our first AdventurUs Women Escape where she tried:
🚵🏽‍♀️mountain biking
🧗🏽‍♀️rock climbing
🛶kayaking - without knowing how to swim, and
😋had her first S'MORE!

I love that picture captures her adventurous spirit. When I think about the why behind what I do I think about all the different times Lisbeth came up to me with a giant smile saying "Saveria, this is my first time...."

Desert season is here.

Do you have a favorite part of the desert that speaks to you?

The barrel cactus is one of our favorites. Bright red it always stands out among the golds and browns of the dessert. Similar in many ways to the other desert flora and yet completely unique.

Just like our community... the same in that we are all women or identity as women AND each of us totally unique.

Be a barrel cactus!

🙏 Thankful for rainbows.
🙏 Thankful for amazing women whose paths are intertwined with ours.
🙏 Thankful for gifts that provide unexpected motivation.

At our Leavenworth, WA Escape last year, as we paddled into a strong headwind on Lake Wenatchee we started losing steam. A 🌈 appeared ahead of us and I shouted "just paddle into the rainbow!" We got an extra boost of energy that only a rainbow magically appearing could provide.

TGIF Friends... as we head into the weekend and towards 2021 remember to "Just paddle into the rainbow! Keep paddling into the rainbow!"

What makes an AdventurUs Woman?
Someone who understands how important it is for women of all skill and experience levels to have opportunities to participate in outdoor activities.

Often outdoor activities can seem too intimidating to try, adventure can seem beyond reach, and that pesky inner voice keeps you from trying something new.

We create experiences that allow women to try outdoor activities and learn outdoor skills under the expert guidance of women instructors in beautiful places in a super supportive environment... sound awesome? They are... the Escapes are in the words of past alum.... "life-changing"!

Happy Day of Thanks!
#Gratitude Post. #FounderPost

I don't want to focus on celebrating Thanksgiving as we were traditionally taught. As we know the fictional tale of "Indians" and pilgrims gathering in celebration and peace ignores the true history of how the land was stolen from the Indigenous Tribes who lived here and the unfathomable ways they were taken from their lands.

As we reflect on back on the year it would be easy to dwell on how hard 2020 has been, but for today I want to focus on the positive and focus on today being a day of thanks.

Today I want you to know how grateful I am for the amazing AdventurUs Women that are part of our community. Because today is about family and loved ones I want to tell you about Deanne.

Have you ever met someone that you instantly know is your sister from another mother? This is how I feel about Deanne. I guess technically she is my "aunt-in-law" but she is so much more to me. She is a dear friend and someone I look up to, respect, admire and secretly wish I could be as cool as she is.

Not only has she trekked all over the world, she used to be an emergency flight nurse on helicopters. When Deanne is not hiking or paddling, she is an ER nurse in Florida where she has been fighting the good fight to save lives while risking her own in the midst of this pandemic. She chooses to work holidays so others can be with their family. She is fiercely independent and also selfless. She is an avid dog mom of rescue pups. She has a smile that will light up a room.

I was so stoked when Deanne's husband (all around amazing human and uncle!) surprised her with a ticket to our Leavenworth Escape last year. Having her there ... with her sister Nancy, was incredibly special for me.

These are the emojis I would use for my friend Deanne.

If you are a female business owner interested in celebrating and empowering women and women owned businesses, don’t miss out on the chance to sponsor Prime Time for Women’s First Annual Grandma Gatewood Legacy Hike to be held on October 25, 2020. In 1955, Emma “Grandma” Gatewood was the first woman to solo thru-hike the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine…and she accomplished this feat at 67 years of age! She was not limited by the perceptions of others. When she was discouraged from hiking the 2,091 miles trail, she did it anyway! Grandma Gatewood embraced challenges as adventures, and pursued possibilities rather than probabilities. To learn more about this exciting event click here. Do you have questions? If so, email Bernadette Wagner at [email protected] or call 240-313-5985. Business owners that also embrace challenges as adventures and want to share in the legacy of possibilities, are invited to sponsor the Grandma Gatewood Legacy Hike for just $200.00. All sponsors will be listed on the back of the lightweight, moisture-wicking, highly breathable long-sleeve T-shirt distributed to all participants. To sponsor the hike visit us on Facebook! https://www.facebook.com/Prime-Time-for-Women-2299962356898762
