Made in the UK is a concert series founded by John Ellson of ESIP Ltd to present the UK’s vibrant jazz and creative music scene abroad. Well known British musicians who are aiming to promote their music internationally are selected each year to showcase at XRIJF (Rochester International Jazz Festival) in the USA, elsewhere in the US and at the Canadian summer festival circuit. Made in the UK launched in 2008 starting with performances at the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival (XRIJF). Every year since, there have been nine nights of British jazz at Rochester's Christ Church venue. These concerts have proved such a success that the series has now been extended to feature at Montreal, Vancouver, Ottawa, Toronto, and many other Canadian festivals. Despite it's (now) diverse spread across a multitude of festivals, Made in the UK remains as an important part of what has become one of North America's leading jazz festivals, XRIJF. Made in the UK has also been featured at many prestigious venues in New York and other US cities, including Dizzy's Jazz Club at 'Jazz at Lincoln Center', Joe's Pub, Birdland, Iridium, Sweet Rhythm, Flushing Town Hall, and the Living Room. 2012 was a particularly notable year for ESIP, with Made in the UK featuring at 25 concerts in the USA, and 18 shows across major Canadian jazz festivals. This gave an estimated total audience of some 15,000 in the USA, and in excess of 25,000 in Canada.

RIP dearest Carlos. Your many musician friends across the pond in the UK will miss you greatly. The great warmth, generosity, enthusiasm and good humour you showed to all the UK artists each year at Christ Church during the jazz festival was so much appreciated and will never be forgotten. Much love to all Carlos’s family and friends. He was truly special ❤️

We are so sad to share that our friend Carlos Mercado, a long time enthusiastic jazz fest supporter and a fixture at Christ Church - Rochester, NY during our Made in the UK Series, has passed away. Carlos never hesitated to step in whenever needed, providing insightful intros for artists, enthusiastic support for the fest and Rochester, and a joyful welcome for music fans. He always had a smile on his face and his positive nature was so uplifting. We will miss you Carlos. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. May you rest in peace with music surrounding you. We will share any additional information as it becomes available.

Breaking news - RIJF postponed until 2021 —Marc Iacona and John Nugent, producers of the CGI Rochester International Jazz Festival, announced today that the festival‘s nine-day 19th edition, first rescheduled from June 19 – June 27, will be postponed to June 18 – 26, 2021.

Club Pass Venue Update! The Made in the UK Series will be moving this year to Bethel Christian Fellowship due to renovations that are being made at Christ Church that will prevent us from using the space. Bethel Christian Fellowship is located at 321 East Avenue at Union Street just down the street from The Little Theater, which is back as a Club Pass venue after their renovations. Bethel has excellent acoustics, a beautiful stage and a capacity of about 1000 so we look forward to presenting another fantastic lineup there in 2020!

Musicians/bands who would like to be considered for the 2020 ‘Made in the UK’ concert series should read the information at https://www.madeintheukjazz.com/made-in-the-uk-2020

The final Made in the UK 2020 programme will be chosen by the CGI Rochester International Jazz Festival Artistic Director and selected bands will be notified by November 2019.
