This is devastating news! She was the real deal from artist to friend! My favorite memory was rehearsing The Dream with you no matter how many times I ran the scherzo section as peaseblossom your playing always drove me to be better faster cleaner
More expressive more precise etc.
You are loved...There will never be another like you...
R.I.P. ❤️🎹🎼
American Ballet Theatre mourns the passing of our dear friend and colleague Barbara Bilach. Barbara served as ABT’s highly esteemed Company pianist for the past 22 years. Her playing was joyful, virtuosic and personal. She inspired ABT’s dancers to perform bigger and better, and she was equally at home playing for Company class, rehearsals and the stage. Her work extended to many inspired performances with ABT, including the music of Virgil Thomson (Drink To Me Only With Thine Eyes), Tchaikovsky (Ballet Imperial), Scarlatti (Seven Sonatas), Shostakovich (Piano Concerto No. 1) and Mendelssohn and Schubert (Jane Eyre). Barbara was an extraordinary talent and a beloved member of the ABT family. We will miss her dearly.
