San José Dance Theatre San Jose's Original Ballet Company - Celebrating 54 Years of Dance - Training the next generation.
San José Dance Theatre inspires dancers of all ages in their exploration of ballet and fosters their growth through high-level training and mentoring experiences with professional dancers and instructors. The Academy’s primary focus is Classical Ballet, yet students also receive training in Contemporary Dance, Conditioning (a combination of Pilates, Yoga, strengthening and stretching), Pointe, Repertory, Pas de Deux and Ballet Education, including Ballet History, Ballet Terms, and Injury Prevention. Across more than 54 years, SJDT has trained beginning through advanced dancers for a lifetime of participation in, as well as appreciation of the art of classical ballet. The Academy specializes in classical ballet training for children from 4 years of age to the pre-professional level, as well as adults of all levels and abilities. SJDT has delighted local audiences for over five decades with performances including Peter and the Wolf, Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast. The results of the Academys training have been gratifying. Many of its alumni have gone on to professional careers in dance and in ice-skating. In December 2019, SJDT will celebrate the 54th annual production of it's esteemed, The Nutcracker" for two weekends at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts in collaboration with Conductor Scott Krijnen and the Cambrian Symphony Orchestra.

SJDT’S Ballet Mistress Supports Brazilian School

San Jose Dance Theatre’s (SJDT) Ballet Mistress, Mariana Zschoerper, is excited to be supporting Goretti Quintela Dance Institution through the Covid-19 crisis. Originally from Brazil Zschoerper grew up in the town of Joinville and attended Escola do Teatro Bolshoi no Brasil for her ballet traing. She is passionate about supporting the arts in her home country and is honored to work with Goretti Quintela Dance Institution.

Goretti Quintela Dance Institution is a Brazil based non profit organization providing classes for underprivileged communities within their region. SJDT’s Ballet Mistress will lend her expertise with much needed online classes to the students while in lock down.
