Last year, The Lake City Summer Festival and Parade was proud to host the ceremony for Eric and Debbie, and to remember the tragedy that occurred in our neighborhood. Take a moment to hold your loved ones close.
One year ago today, the City of Seattle named Aug. 3rd "Eric Stark Day" in honor of Mr. Stark's heroism. He maneuvered his Route 75 bus out of danger after being shot. He saved his passengers’ lives.
In the time since the March 2019 shooting, Mr. Stark, a driver for King County Metro, and the officers who offered life-saving first aid have become friends.
To thank those officers, as well as the entire department, Mr. Stark, his family and friends have created a "challenge coin" for officers to keep. Inscribed on the coin is this message: "Your selfless dedication and tireless efforts have touched and changed countless people in our community. We honor you. We thank you."
We thank you Mr. Stark for your kindness and bravery. You truly are a hero.
