A true "day of community" in Lake City.

It's happening Saturday, (yep, tomorrow)! Our first, Lake City Folklife Festival, 10AM - 5PM...a full day of fun! We are especially grateful to our entertainers for providing top-rate music and dance.

10AM- 11AM Pinewood Derby
Starting out the day is entertainment for the wee folk...the Boy Scouts Pinewood Derby sponsored by the Rotary Club of Seattle NE. Boys of all ages have been crafting their race cars and are looking forward to winning the race!

11:30 AM Music In The Glen
A group of six talented musicians: two flutes/whistles, three fiddles and a concertina. It's a group to get your foot tappin'.

12:30 AM Scottish Country Dancing
The Caledonian-St. Andrews Society will bring us their experienced dancers and pipers! Sit a spell with your lunch and enjoy the show.

2:00 PM Susan Burke and Julian Adamaitis
Susan is well known for her fiery Celtic style and plays regularly throughout Seattle. Julian Adamaitis plays with Sky Blue Swing, a Seattle swing band. Together, they'll play a combination of swing and traditional Celtic tunes on fiddle and piano. Wow!

3:00 PM Bellydancing by Asiva, The Tribal Kind, Aneri and Roxy
Asiva has been dancing for the last 14 years throughout the Pacific Northwest and performs Egyptian Style Caberet.The Tribal Kind will be performing a Tribal Belly Dance Duet for us. Aneri will also be doing a caberet style belly dance and finally, Roxy will be performing her amazing, Hawaiian Poi dance for you all to enjoy.

4:00 PM Red Crow
Red Crow is a regular at contra dances throughout Seattle. They are bringing the gift of their music to the festival this year and if we are lucky, we might just have an impromptu dance. Stop by to find out what's happening as we wrap up the day.

Workshops

10 am – 11am Family Music Hour featuring Fair Trade Musical Instruments from Jamtown ~ the place in Seattle for Hand Drums & Classes, located right here in Lake City! Be a part of all ages and levels coming together in a rhythm orchestra ~ just follow the Conductor, Jamtown John!

11 am - Noon African Inspired drum ensemble performance with Bill Matthews

Noon – 1:00 PM Hand Drum workshop open to all levels ~ bring your drum or play on one of ours…
