Scenes from the Seattle Center where I did meet & greets with my buddy Kuma as Japanese dog breed representatives (along with some very cute Shibas, Hokkaidos and Kai Ken) at the Seattle Cherry Blossom and Japanese Cultural Festival. We were very patient with all the petting and picture taking, and especially gentle with the little humans. 🌸👦👧🏻🌸🐶🐕🌸 #goodboy #japaneseakita #shibainu #nihonken #seattlecherryblossomfestival

To our Friends of Seattle Cherry Blossom and Japanese Cultural Festival

Now that the coronavirus outbreak is declared a national emergency with events banned, we, mindful of the safety and well-being of our festival members, participants and visitors wish to take proactive steps by cancelling the physical part of Cherry Blossom Festival this year at Seattle Center. Instead the festival committee is in the midst of planning other options. Please stay in touch with http://www.cherryblossomfest.org for further news. In the meantime, please stay healthy and safe.

Founded on a sunny afternoon on the warm grass of Seattle’s Seward Park on May 8, 1976, the Seattle Cherry Blossom and Japanese Cultural Festival has grown to become a three-day celebration enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of people.

Please remember Minoru Yamasaki, JA Architect.

Japanese American architect Minoru Yamasaki (1912-1986) was most famous for designing the World Trade Center in NYC. Upon completion of the Twin Towers he said: “World trade means world peace and consequently the World Trade Center buildings in New York have a bigger purpose than just to provide room for tenants. The World Trade Center is a living symbol of man’s dedication to world peace. Beyond the compelling need to make this a monument to world peace, the World Trade Center should, because of its importance, become a representation of man’s belief in humanity, his need for individual dignity, his beliefs in the cooperation of men, and through cooperation, his ability to find greatness.” #911 #911Anniversary #Neverforget #WorldTradeCenter

Emerald City Karate Demo at our Festival.

I was so proud to see our students perform in front of such a large crowd with confidence and poise! Check out their awesome demonstration of the kata 'Saifa'! The two younger girls are sisters! Their mom also trains in our adult classes. Remember... 'the family that kicks together, sticks together!'
