Announcement Regarding The Dixie Gas Show:
After a couple of unsupported posts/statements about Dixie Gas being cancelled, I wanted to provide all of you with legitimate information. I have spoken with the COVID taskforce in Nashville within the Tennessee Dept. of Health. I have spoken with the regional office for the Tennessee Dept. of Health. I have spoken with the head of the Sevier County Dept. of Health. I have spoken with the Chief of Police for the Sevier County Sheriff's Office. I have also had a conference call with the office of the Mayor of Sevier County. All are in agreement: Dixie Gas is a flea market, and thus considered a business in a non-Metro area of Tennessee. Dixie Gas is not a festival, fair, concert or special gathering. We have been assured that the Dixie Gas Show is able to proceed (within the social distancing guidelines outlined on my previous post). Exact quote: "Open up and have a good time." Social Distancing is much easier on this 100 acre farm than it is inside a restaurant, grocery store or your local Lowes. If you are not comfortable coming to Dixie Gas, we understand. We will help hold items; I will even help you look for items you need. But please, unless you have first hand knowledge representing information other than what local authorities have provided us, it would be best not to make posts or statements that are not rooted in fact.
Dixie Gas is on. See you Thursday (7th).
High Valley Rentals, 2 miles from show site, has cabins available for rent. Susan Feeney @ 865-428-0608
Important Information Regarding Dixie Gas....Please Read Everything:
After careful consideration and after a thorough review of local, state and regional data, we have decided to proceed with the Dixie Gas Show on May 7-9. This decision was not made lightly, and is given with input from me (Bryce Boiling) and other physicians. The Shelter In Place order for TN will expire the first week of May. Many surrounding states will also see their orders expire in the next few weeks as well. From an epidemiological view point, we feel that the chances of infection would be much lower if the show was held just as things were opening back up. If we postpone to later in the summer, I believe the risk would be higher, seeing that more people will be out in larger crowds as we advance in to late May and in to June.
We considered asking people from known COVID-19 hotspots to avoid coming to the show, especially given that this would lead to a Koban-free event. However, it's Dixie and we don't discriminate. Therefore, if you can help us practice the social distancing guidelines below, we would love to see you at the show.
1. If you have a fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste/smell or other respiratory symptoms, please stay home. We have a large population of older participants at Dixie....many of which have come to the show for 20+ years. Help us keep them safe.
2. Avoid shaking hands. This is a tough one for me and many, many others. We all understand what's going on right now and we all know that, during this time, not shaking hands doesn't make us rude. It makes us cautious.
3. Keep some hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol in your pockets as there aren't sinks available to wash your hands at Dixie.
4. Practice Distancing. Please try to keep at least 6 feet of distance between you and people that are not members of your immediate family.....even if they don't look sick. The vast majority of cases (we believe around 80%) have been contracted from asymptomatic carriers. Chip will be selling 6 foot sticks to whack anyone who gets near you.
5. Avoid unnecessary touching of items. If you want to see the back side of the sign, either sanitize your hands before touching it or ask the owner to show you the back side of the sign.
6. Finally, we are recommending you wear a mask. Even a homemade mask can help contain the spread of this illness. I can get in to the science of masks if anyone has concerns...just message me.
You may still drop trailers ONLY on Wednesday. No set up until Thursday morning at 6am. Show starts promptly at 6am Thursday - no exceptions. Call me if you have questions. Most of you have my number, if not, message me.
If you do not feel comfortable coming to Dixie, we completely understand given the circumstances. If there is a piece you are looking for, feel free to send me a picture and I will try my best to keep my eyes open and help you find that piece. You may also reply to this post with a picture of what you're looking for and we can ask all attendees to help look for that item for you. If you had a delivery scheduled for Dixie and do not want to take the chance, either Chip or myself would be happy to hold this piece for you until you are ready to pick it up.
Unfortunately, the Annual Vendor Dinner will be cancelled. Concessions will be available and we are working on strategies to keep everyone safe.
Good Morning Everyone. We at the Dixie Gas Show have been closely monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak and the CDC recommendations. Given those recommendations, we have elected to POSTPONE the Spring 2020 Dixie Gas Show. In coordination with the 2020 Rod Run, we will be moving the dates of the show to Thursday, May 7th through Saturday, May 9th.
Please Note: this is a fluid situation. If we approach the end of April and the CDC recommendations are still active, the show could be moved again. We will post updates as necessary.
We want everyone to be able to come to Dixie in May. Please help us make that possible. Practice Social Distancing, keep your hands clean with frequent hand washing and use of sanitizer. And most importantly, STAY HOME unless there is an urgent need to go out. Best Wishes from Dixie!
The Spring show is 100% on, at this time. We will continue plans to have the Spring Dixie Gas Show as normal. Stay tuned for Any updates on this page. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and if we should have to reschedule we will post it here first. Looking forward to seeing all our Dixie family.
Thank you for all your continued support.😺🇺🇸
Hi everyone. With the show being just a few days away, I wanted to take a moment to remind everyone that Wednesday is for trailor drop off only. No vending is allowed on Wednesday. Vending will commence on Thursday morning.
With that being said, we do realize traffic flow will be heavy, so here are a few directions: When turning in, vendors please proceed straight up the hill to staging area. Someone in orange will be there to put you in your spot. Spectators, please turn right and follow signs up hill in that direction to parking. Do not stop as you just pull off the road to avoid back-up into the road.
Most of all, please be alert and pay attention for everyone's safety. See ya'll soon and Thanks!!
Just a few more...Thanks everyone!
