Dear Comrades and Citizens of South St Paul.
As you are aware, we are all faced with extremely challenging times during this pandemic.

In order to support the stay-at-home order our Governor has put in place and after talking with Post officers and the American Legion We’ve come to the decision to avoid any ongoing threat of COVID-19 and its potential health risk to the community. We’ve decided to Cancel this year's Memorial Day Parade and Service as well as our Poppy Distribution.

This was a very difficult decision to make, one that was not taken lightly - but we felt it was the right approach. We are in discussion to come up with an alternative program for Memorial Day.

Hello FB followers to VFW Post 295 as many of you know and to those who may not the Post is in a transition period. We have sold the building in which we have had for many years and have held many events to support our community and our veterans. But like so many other VFW Posts throughout the state and the country we were not able to maintain the financial support of the building. We felt that is was in the best interest of the Post.
We have relocated to an office space to conduct or business to support our veterans and the community. We have started the task of what we what in the new location as we look toward the future of the post. We ask for your patience and support and I will be updating on the progress when I can.

I am a disabled veteran, receiving a monthly benefit from the V.A. I was in 3 individual helicopter crashes, during my Navy career, while serving duty as a Search and Air Rescue (SAR) diver. I have recently been awarded a new Mobility Scooter by the V.A. This is all wonderful and I am grateful to the V.A. for their support to all of our veterans. I served 3 tours of duty in Viet Nam, also served in Desert Storm, Desert Shield, Iraqi Freedom. The difficulty that my wife and I have; we purchased a new Chrysler 200 in May of 2017. This vehicle has only 19,650 miles on it at this time. HOWEVER it is not rated for towing or supporting any weight of anything over 200 pounds on the "tongue weight". The reason that we are having a fundraiser is that I have been informed by the VA that I am ineligible to receive a grant that would allow us to purchase a vehicle that would be capable of having a lift installed so we would be able to carry the scooter with us. Like when we go to church, go shopping at Wal Mart o or just go to the Library. Just some of the daily, ordinary things that married couples do on a daily basis. I have been working on getting my VA rating increased since October 2018. They have my paperwork and allegedly have the MRI and xrays to show my herniated disc's in my Lumbar area. They take such a long time to make decisions. The mobility scooter that we have is a Pride Victory 10 4 wheeled scooter. The scooter alone weighs almost 300 pounds. Any lift that would be installed would be an additional 85 - 100 pounds We are asking for donations to be able to defray the cost of purchasing a new vehicle that will be compatible with the lift and scooter combination so that we can make the most productive and efficient use of the NEW SCOOTER that we have just received from the V.A. this morning (6 February 2020) Thank You in advance for any and all assistance that you may provide us. We truly do appreciate your help Michial & Shirley As of 02/16/2020 we have found a dealer we are working with to find a different vehicle that will be compatible with both the LIFT and the SCOOTER attached at the same time. We have one HUGE obstacle, they need $8000.00 for a down payment to close the deal and keep the payments within the amount that we are currently paying. You Generosity and Donations are GREATLY APPRECIATED and we would like to say THANK YOU in advance for all of your generosity.
