The Women's Image Awards

The Women's Image Awards A production of Women's Image Network, The Women's Image Awards celebrate media both male and female artists who create dimensional female media images which advance positive public opinion about the value of women and girls.

Founded by filmmaker, actor / artist Phyllis Stuart, Light Productions produces Women's Image Awards to advance awareness and action. WIN promotes gender parity which not only serves as a catalyst for economic growth but equality is simply the right direction for humanity. To promote our shared goals, media makers and celebrity Influencers alike collaborate to create media and events like The WIN Awards to promote parity through their talent, creativity and leadership. Each year, the charity Women's Image Network, (WIN) produces the Women's Image Awards (AKA The WIN Awards) show to advance dimensional female media images. About Women's Image Network (WIN) & The WIN Awards WIN works in concert with research, media advocacy and program implementation to promote gender parity. By celebrating dimensional female media images at The WIN Awards, WIN advances its mission to see women attain social and economic equality. The WIN Awards (the women's image awards) are an international juried awards show that encourages men and women to create dimensional female media images. By drawing attention and viewers to witness important and entertaining media, we encourage people to value, respect and honor women and girls. The WIN Awards show is a one of a kind international media event which gathers film and television writers, producers, directors, actors and others. In addition to honoring illustrious individuals whose work promotes gender parity, The WIN Awards also celebrate dozens of nominated films, shows, directors, writers, actors and producers whose work has been submitted to its jury and which has been nominated in 15 categories. The WIN Awards celebrate both men and women in the media who promote gender parity through both their creativity and leadership. According to WIN founder, actress and producer, Phyllis Stuart, “We produce The WIN Awards so that women and girls will achieve social and economic parity. The media is a most potent tool to advance gender parity. Because if women and girls are portrayed well in the media, girls and women everywhere may one day be well-treated". While historically The WIN Awards were presented only to invited individuals, in 2002 television broadcasters and film studios began submitting their outstanding work to The WIN Awards be adjudicated on a competitive basis by an illustrious and professional entertainment industry jury. Today, The WIN Awards show has grown into an international juried show with work evaluated based on both artistic excellence and on its ability to forward WIN’s mission: “To Foster a World Where Everyone WINs®”

Mission: ABOUT WIN / THE WIN AWARDS: The Women's Image Awards harness the power of the media by promoting dimensional female media images (created by both men & women) to advance the value of women and girls. The world strives for gender equality now and entertainment consumers crave authentic female voices. The world seeks these examples and to the extent that women's voices remain silent, we all are robbed of their contribution. TWENTY YEARS IN THE MAKING; WHY NOW? While it seems women's rights are back in fashion and gender parity is currently popular, for two decades by honoring dimensional, female media images, Women's Image Network has produced The Women's Image Awards to ensure women are valued since 1993. WIN knows women are more than a trending topic so we work to see equality evolve into a lasting, seismic, societal shift.

15 Inspiring Quotes from the Five Highest-Grossing Female Directors - ScreenCraft

"If I learned one thing, it is that self-doubt is one of the most destructive forces. It makes you defensive instead of open, reactive instead of active. Self-doubt is consuming and cruel. And my hope today is that we can all collectively agree to ban it… Think to the moments of your life when you forgot to doubt yourself, when you were so inspired that you were just living and creating and working. Pay attention to those moments because they’re trying to reach you through those lenses of doubt and trying to show you your potential.”

"I actually have a strong desire to be the oldest person ever nominated. That’s an encouraging thing for me to say to the women of the world, keep on trucking, as long as you can. Did you know Eastern DR Congo is the Rape Capital of the World?

A previous Nobel Peace laureate, Dr. Denis Mukwege, has to think twice before even stepping outside his door.

"The doctor, a gynaecologist celebrated for his work with survivors of sexual assault in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Panzi Hospital, was awarded the Nobel in 2018 along with Yazidi activist Nadia Murad for their campaigns against rape in warfare. But Mukwege’s continuing calls for justice for the victims of Congo’s brutal ongoing conflict have since earned him threats against his life and his hospital."

"There is additional interest in Susan B. Anthony this year since it is her 200th birthday and the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment which helped women secure the right to vote.

On the day that the United States elected its first female vice president, many visitors marked the occasion by visiting the grave of Susan B. Anthony, a leader of the 19th-century women’s suffrage movement, at Mount Hope Cemetery in Rochester, N.Y."

The Problem With the Oscars’ Idea of a ‘Good Movie’

What art gets to be lionized and revered?

“I still think we very much have a hierarchy of stories. I think that the top of the hierarchy is male violence—man on man, man on woman, etc. I think if you look at the books and films and stories that we consider to be ‘important,’ that is a common theme, either explicitly or implicitly.”

Gerwig doesn’t need to be the one-woman symbol of Academy Award sexism, and indeed she expressed great positivity about the attention her film received in an interview after the nominations were unveiled. “The numbers are all moving in the right direction,” she said. “There have been great strides and we’ve got to keep going: keep writing, keep making, keep doing.”

Every year, plenty of excellent films are excluded from the awards-season conversation for reasons that have nothing to do with talent or artistry. This year is no different.

General information

The Women’s Image Awards harness the power of the media by promoting outstanding and dimensional female media images (created by both men & women) to advance the value of women and girls. Today the world pines for equality and entertainment consumers crave authentic female voices. Because to the extent that women's voices remain silent, we all are robbed of their contribution. Now is a powerful time to advance gender parity and the Women’s Image Awards is an effective way to accomplish our shared mission. While this year is our 19th show, your participation may enable the Women’s Image Awards to exponentially catapult. Women's Image Network (WIN) has produced The WIN Awards. WIN also produced the ABC primetime special, 50 YEARS OF FUNNY FEMALES and The WINFemme Film Festival (for four years).
