Our sporting clays course has been completely modified for the upcoming SCTP competition this Saturday, January 18th. Our professional target setter and our volunteers worked very hard the last two days getting the course ready and it was completed last night. The pull cords have been removed so no competitor can "practice" on the new targets.

The course will reopen to our members Sunday, January 19th. This course change up will make our casual shooting new and challenging. Thanks for your understanding and helping our club improve.

ECSC will be closed Saturday January 18th as SCTP will host their league shoot. Volunteers are needed, please see email for more details.

We have a bridge & road contractor working on the bridges by sporting stations 3 and 13 where we sustained water shed/flood damage this Spring. Our sporting clays course will be closed intermittently from 7/23 - 7/25 as the bridges will sometimes be impassable separately and probably at the same times. These bridges are being completely dug up and replaced and the drainage beds cleared of debris. Please do not walk the course either as that will interfere with the contractors.

If all goes as planned our bridges will be passable for this weekend. After the large tinhorn culverts are put into position dirt will be filled in up to a point where they can be driven over only with golf carts and buggies; not street legal trucks or cars. The final gravel fill in and the finishing road surface will will follow as soon as the contractor can get that done.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we improve our club.

Ellis County Sportsman Club

Please note the club will be closed this upcoming weekend due to a prescheduled event. They will start Friday, January 18th, afternoon (with using a couple of skeet fields) but then Saturday, January 19th, and Sunday, January 20th, all skeet and trap fields and sporting clays course will be closed for this event.

Due to the tremendous number of participants, we need help keeping sporting clays and skeet running, especially on Sunday, January 20th.

You can always view our updated calendar at http://www.desotogunclubtx.com/events.html

Thank you for your support.

Our club entrance road will be under construction and closed on Tuesday January 15th from 8:00 AM until approximately noon. The contractor doing the parking lot work will get this done quickly and may be finished before noon. We are having the drainage improved between Sterrett Road and the gate by adding an additional drain tinhorn pipe to improve water drainage through this small bottleneck.

Also, some entrance road work will be done between the gate and the clubhouse parking lot and adding crushed asphalt to complete and improve the quality of our road. This additional work may interfere with accessibility on this date but will be done as fast as humanly possible.

Thank you in advance for your understanding and this short notice.

Friendly reminder- Saturday 8/11/18 is a workday, volunteers are needed, starting at 9am.

08/03/2018

In order to better prepare for member shooting and the TSRA Sporting Clays fundraiser on 8/18 we are moving this scheduled workday back one week from Saturday 8/4 to 8/11 starting at 9:00 AM. Volunteers are needed to load targets in every skeet house, trap bunker, and sporting clay machine so come out and help us finish this work up before it gets too hot!

Since we will be loading targets everywhere all skeet, trap, 5 stand, and sporting clays will be closed from 8:30 AM until noon - no exceptions - a safety issue for workers. If more folks come out and help we will most likely finish up before noon so shooting can begin sooner.

The new member orientation also scheduled on 8/11 will start promptly at 10:00 AM and you new folks can help us load houses as well. Thanks in advance for your understanding and support

07/26/2018

7/28/2018 - 7/29/2018

We will begin the process of installing more of our new skeet machines this Saturday and Sunday. Fields 2 & 3 will be down for the weekend during this upgrade. If you happen to shoot on either of these fields Thursday or Friday please do not fill the carousels back up; they will have to be unloaded Saturday morning. Also, if you are shooting this weekend please be considerate of the workers and help us along as we progress.

Our vendor and volunteers will be working hard and could use some help so if you have time please come out and help clean up both days and do the necessary work to help the installers. Thanks in advance for your help and understanding.

06/21/2018

This Friday will be preparation and practice day for the Lone Star Chapter of the Paralyzed Veterans Association at our club and their scheduled shoot on Saturday. All of our trap fields will be used for this event so basically trap shooting is closed for general shooting and practice from Friday after lunch until the shooting Saturday is completed by approximately 4:00 PM.

The competitors will be shooting 16 yard line, handicapped, and doubles and our club will be hosting about 40 guests so please be mindful of our veterans and other participants in wheel chairs. Our clubhouse and skeet fields 4, 5, & 6 and all of sporting clays will be open as usual. Thanks for your cooperation and understand of this worthwhile event.

2017 Texas State Trap Shoot Have you noticed that ECSC has some great trap shooters? Look at what they did at the state shoot in Amarillo July 4-9. Don Rackley - 1 win & 1 RU in preliminary events, RU in Handicap Championship & 3rd in HAA SBVT. Marvin Webb - Event winner & AA Champion in HAA & HOA. Jim Green - Singles Champion RU Senior Vet & Handicap Champion RU at long yardage. Richard Chandler - Champion Handicap Senior vet Tommy Nations - B Class winner at doubles Ginny Warren - Lady II Singles & Handicap & HAA Champion, RU in Doubles. I took this list from the TX Trap Assoc. so if I left anyone out, I apologize. Please add your name to the list.
Thank you Ellis County Sportsman Club for the facility use and to the many behind the scene volunteers who came out and worked tirelessly during the SCTP event. Your efforts are greatly appreciated and made the weekend run smoothly
