Unfortunately due to the return of restrictions on public gatherings, the city of Waxahachie is unable to approve any permits and they are cancelling all events through November. As a result we will not have the event this year. Looking forward to a better 2021 for all.

I've been asked to inquire on potential 2020 dates?...FYI Veterans Day mid-week.

11/10/2019

Thank you to all our veterans who served our country with honor and dignity. We hope that you look back on your service with pride because we are proud of you.

Thank you to everyone who made today's event a success. We hope that you enjoyed your time in Waxahachie and look forward to seeing you again next year.

Wondering what to do on Saturday night after you have expended all ammo and eaten at one of the city's fine restaurants? Whiskey Coy is once again hosting movie night for reenactors at the Park and Rec office. Movie time will be 19:00 and the feature will be whatever drops on resupply, but most likely will have British paratroopers because, well, they are Brits after all. There was plenty of popcorn and soft drinks last year, so don't miss out.

Waxahachie Veterans Weekend - WWII Weekend - Victory in Europe

We're just a few days away and the camping areas will be Boyce Field where the Allies have camped for several years and the city park opposite the Depot where Axis forces have been camping. Parks and Recreation will cover the basketball posts and hearts on Friday afternoon and they will block the parking lot so only Axis vehicles will be permitted.
Below is the link for website where you can find forms to print/complete beforehand and save time at check-in

The College Street Pub is once again hosting Friday night "beer garden/Oktoberfest/Germans last meal" for reenactors. There will be some great Oktoberfest dinner specials and beer on tap. We typically take over the outdoor area at 18:30 and some have been known to enjoy until closing.
Be sure to shine your boots and leave your weapons in camp. Hope to see you there.

Thank you to all that have been responding to the event posting.
We are looking at all the changes in the area which the battle has occurred in past years and will be making changes this year. We will not have as many vehicles in the action and the use of smoke will be very limited if at all.
The amphitheater construction is progessing, but may not be 100% complete in time for the event. That will impact some camping, battle/spectator space and even the plan to have movie night on big screen there.
As we move along towards the event, we ask for your patience and flexibility as things unfold.
As a scoutmaster I knew once said, "the motto of the troop is Semper Gumby, Always Flexible".

09/09/2019

We have received word that the budget for the event has been approved, so once again there will be no registration fees. Thank you so much to the City of Waxahachie Travel and Tourism team for their efforts!
There is a meeting coming up soon to address some of the challenges around the amphitheater construction area as well as new businesses in the immediate area. Once that is complete there will be details about camping and preliminary time line of events.
Registration will be up within a week so we can get preliminary counts for the battle plan. If unit commanders could please sound off (comment) on projected strength, that would also be useful.

07/22/2019

Mark your calendars!
We have been notified that City Council has approved the reenactment for November 9, 2019. That means we will have setup on the afternoon November 8, events that evening, all day events November 9, and break down/departure on November 10.
More posts to come with more details as they are available. Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

First off, thank you to all our veterans who have served this great country and defended our freedom. May this day bring you peace of mind that you are safe at home and pride in your heart for doing your part.

Secondly, a great big THANK YOU to all who participated yesterday and those who came out to watch. Once again it was a safe event which is the most important part. We hope that you will come out again next year and bring a friend as well as make some new ones while sharing history.

11/05/2018

Looks like we will need some camouflage netting or canvas to cover two sculptures that have been put up in the battle area. Please let us know if you can provide for the event.

Great news on the camping front for the event. The construction company should be able to relocate their equipment for the weekend so the Allies will be using Boyce Field with little impact. Meeting with construction company on Oct 29 to walk the area and discuss timing.

Sooo...it took a little longer to work out some details about ordering some blanks as we have in past years. Annnddd...it took a couple of more conversations to get the USO donut supply headed in the right direction. Buuut...NO Registration Fee this year!!!
The city of Waxahachie has been very generous this year as well as Historic Waxahachie Inc. Bottom line is they want you to come, enjoy yourselves, and share history with the public! I would ask that you take that money you previously spent on registration and spend it on lunch, dinner, a snack, supporting the local community that is looking forward to seeing you come.
We will post the updated registration/waiver form to be filled out prior to the check-in on Saturday November 10. There will be an email that you can send completed forms, so we can expedite processing on Saturday. Weapons will be checked and assigned a safety tag that will be removed during safety brief just prior to battle in exclusion area. We are working on making this a process that can be safe, expeditious, and relatively low intensity. Ammunition quarantine will be repeated with magazines being loaded after safety check, in view of inspectors, and placed in quarantine to save time at safety briefing when ammo is released.

09/18/2018

We're under 60 days to the event and plans are underway with Historic Waxahachie Inc. to get the word out locally as well as involving parts of WISD again.
Registration will be announced within next week or so once we work a little more with city. There will be changes in the Allied campground/motorpool due to construction in the area which will be announced closer to event.
Check in will run from 0900 to 1200 this year with the same quarantine of ammunition. Magazines will again be allowed to load after inspection then be quarantined.
Looking forward to another great turn out this year and the opportunity to share history with the public in an impact full way.

08/14/2018

It is official with the city council that we are set for Saturday November 10, 2018. That makes the event dates November 9th through 11th. More Posts to come with details, schedules, and events. We look forward to seeing another great turn out and a great time for all.

11/09/2017

A little clarification on the ammunition check in and quarantine.
The reason for the addition of the quarantine is twofold:
Additional safety during the dwell time from check-in to battle.
Allow participants to preload magazines at check-in in sight of inspectors then place in the large boxes thus saving time later while maintaining safety.

All will be kept under lock and key until battle.

11/07/2017

In just under 96 hours we will be tightening laces, adjusting a strap, and getting last minute instructions from the unit commanders.
WAIT! You can't do that unless you are registered and paid up which gets more expensive after early registration discount ends.
WAIT AGAIN! No one is getting to do anything fun without a proper safety check and recheck. That won't happen without volunteers. We only have a couple signed up so far (Thank you to them), but without more we will have long lines, grumbling, and frustrated inspectors.
Please do your part and sign up today to be a safety inspector. More hands make lighter work and a lot more smiles on short lines.

11/05/2017

Well were almost there folks...hopefully reenactors and vehicle owners are using this weekend to get those last items in order, final planning, etc. There are some changes to this year - Tim O'Connor is the new Wax-based coordinator as I transition from the role (this will be the last year I'm taking point - it's been an amazing 14yrs).
2nd most important change is for those folks checking in - please bring your ammo in clear ziplock bags with your name on it - it will be surrended to the inspectors and locked up and under guard until immediately before the battle - for those of you with MGs and large number of mags requiring loading we're put a specific area within the exclusion zone and time before the battle specifically for that purpose. More to follow. See you in Wax!

11/03/2017

REGISTRATION UPDATE! Last Weekend before the event. Don't forget to get your registration completed to get the $5 fee. On line registration closes THURSDAY NOV. 9 @ 12:00 noon!

11/01/2017

Have you registered? Did you print out your forms? I'm going to do my part for the cause and register today (yup, I'm a procrasnator), are you going to register?
Have you thought about being a safety inspector? Can you inspect a firearm and tell a blank from a live round? I bet you can. Sign up to work an hour keeping the world safe for democracy.
